My great grandparents lived nearby. Locals pronounced the town name as “POM-pea-eye”. The railroad was nicknamed “the try-weekly”. Because if it did get there one week, it might try to return the next week. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

I will say, my bed hasn't ever rocked. However, for whatever reason, somethings around my house in ole Dirtland will rattle for unexplainable reasons. I had a computer mouse get, what I fan only explain as, thrown off my desk, after it started rattling on my desk.

We lived a few miles south. I was 12 yrs old. The sky was awful. We heard so many sirens - police/fire/ambulance. My father worked for the newspaper and helped report the story. He said it was like a war zone, absolutely gruesome. No previous history of tornadoes ever in that area. The whole city was in turmoil for a long time.

i'm 70 and have never heard of this place. do a story on the lost city of damon. james oliver curwood wrote a story and it was happening it damon. if i remember right the book was (green timber). go in the old part of the cemetary and you will find 2 small markers of 2 infants who died there well over 100 years ago. i can just imagine the parents of these children watching them die out in the middle of nowhere with no help around. which was true of many children and places then. anyway look it up and read the history of the lost city of damon.
