I would get the breakfast when at the hotel, the day that I want breakfast there. Sometimes I just wanna wake up late and go to a combini for breakfast. But I definitely recommend hotel breakfast in Japan. It´s divine.

We opted out during our 3 week visit to Japan, there are many options outside of the hotel that you could explore. Plus you get to experience the hustle and bustle of the morning commute and people watch while the commuter army moves through the streets and train stations. The best was watching the commute at the Shinagawa train station from the cafe overlooking the main thoroughfare.
