The plastic inserts few years ago I lost four hives because the ambrosia fondant that I cut a hole in and put over the cluster in the winter flowed out down over the cluster and kill them all when I complained about it they said that’s what the plastic inserts are for they stop the fondant flowing out down over the bees. That’s what they’re for and other people sell them with their fondant feeds.❤️

I just learnt something! Often wondered why we do 1 to 1 rather than straight onto 2 to 1 as this is less work for the bees to evaporate. Are you saying 2:1 slows down egg laying?
@SimplyBeeutifulHoney22 күн бұрын
Probably putting my neck on the block but…. Generally 2:1 is fed for stores as it’s thicker and 1:1 is fed to stimulate laying as it is simulating a flow.

Hi, yes it’s a Honda 1” 4 stroke. To be totally honest it is amazing for the feeding of the syrup but it does struggle a little bit with the mixing, especially when adding the granular sugar. I’m looking to get myself a 4” pump for the mixing in future.

As soon as you say... "these cows are destined for the table..." they start backing up away from you...- hahaha. Great video. 1-Can you tell us, show us the Hive wheelbarrow... I don't think I've seen something like that in the USA... I usually just need to recruit strong friends- haha... 2- I noticed that you have some hives on stands, so on the ground directly, some you were talking about "bring in stones or something to stand some hives on..."- is it just sort of what's handy on a particular site/location? I'm just wondering about critters that can possibly move in from the ground level... I'm on the look out for ants, etc.. and mine on a a stand, off the ground. I just wondered if you got more bugs - laid directly on the ground. just wondering.. thanks!
@SimplyBeeutifulHoney2 ай бұрын
Maybe they know what's coming ?? 😮 It's my first season of giving the barrow a go... but up to now I'm really impressed with it. It makes my life so much easier moving hives around as I'm usually on my own. The hives on the ground will be raised up on a stand once I take some concrete blocks to site, I keep forgetting. Other than slugs and mice we don't really have any "Critters" that would bother the bees/hives. A strong hive of bees will always be able to control ants etc.
