I came across your channel this evening and have enjoyed your adventure to Alaska so far. I live similarly in the Canadian Rockies a few 1,000 kms away. Life in these regions can seem challenging but once you figure out the shortcuts then it is great. Looking forward to your future adventures.

Hi there! My name is Rachel and we are considering moving to Anchorage for my husband's work. We have never visited and unfortunately wouldn't have a chance to before the move. Any advice or negatives that you would be willing to share with us? Would you consider Anchorage to be family-friendly (we have a toddler and a baby)? We are just trying to gather as much info as possible before our decision next week. Thanks so much!

Hi! Thank you for reaching out! How exciting and brave! I wouldn’t personally recommend “the heart of Anchorage” to live but just outside of Anchorage is a wonderful place for families. Eagle River is definitely our favorite and close to Anchorage. We recently bought a house in the Valley (Wasilla) because you can get more land and house for the price but it’s a little further into Anchorage. Many people still commute from here in Wasilla, I personally find it a tad too far. Are you familiar with cold climates or from a warmer state? We have had zero negatives so far and find Alaska to be an absolute blessing to our family.

I’m Albertan and I enjoyed watching your review. I am baffled that someone is cutting wires on the trailers. I was sorry you had to travel through the forest fires. This has been the worst years for forest fires which are due to years of droughts. The dry dead wood lights up like a match. Pictures help but can’t get the blue of those waters. They’re amazing. I hope you trip is trouble free here on in.

They are crossing into Canada, so it is their business. Otherwise, go a different route to Alaska, such as swim the Pacific ocean. As a Canadian, I stand by the Canadian Border Patrol and the Canadian government in having standards with regards to guns, particularly gun happy Americans. Keep your guns in your country. If you don't like it, stay the hell out of Canada
@brianhalliday2384

Canadian border agents are like the Gestapo in Germany. My best advice is just don't go there. If you want the black tank in your RV searched for guns, by all means try to cross. For us, we will never attempt a Canadian border crossing ever again. The US is a free country, Canada is not. They have no problem with their own residents travelling to the US to buy cigarettes and alcohol, but Americans that attempt to travel in Canada are treated like criminals.

Here in Canada we have accents you can't understand? You should visit other countries. Do research before you go. We are from Alberta. My parents took a motorhome to Alaska. They even took two Alaskan cruises. Also a previous comment was they didn't know Canada was so big, well we are the second largest country in the world. My family and I drove a motorhome across Canada. We have been to the United States. Quite a few of us have been to different countries. My favourite was Israel. Boston Pizza invented the ham and pineapple pizza.

Yup! To get good poutine you have to go to Montreal or any road side chip truck in Quebec! That gravy has to be boiling hot and if you can try a cheese curd, they have to "squeak" when you bight them... they are fresh!

I am going to stick up for the Canadians on this one, I had the same attitude as you did when I first moved to Alaska. short story, An American cop and his family went to Calgary for the stampede , four men approached his car and he panicked and looked for his gun that he did not have (Thank God ) because he said he would have shot them , only to find out they were just giving free tickets to his Family to go to the stampede, they do not come close to the gun crime in the USA , the people are very friendly like that and you need to check that attitude at the Border. Only the cops carry hand guns in Canada and registered collectors, they hunt with rifles. So it is their business if your traveling threw their Country , just like ours, rules are rules. And I like it to be honest, we should have done the same thing 30 years ago. Why do you think I moved ? Tired of gun fights every night in my neighborhood.

They ask for the receipt because you said you own a gun & the receipt is proof you actually do not have with you. He could’ve had you empty everything out of the van & trailer to search for it. (BTW Americans did that to our family in 1965-night time with 5 kids, a dog, a tent trailer and station wagon. Mom was NOT impressed! They didn’t open the trailer but mom and dad had to repack the car, in the dark with a toddler & 4 kids & dog. Us kids weren’t “cling ons” either. I fear for that every time we cross over!)
