I like the Lego site update side show. Will be cool to see all of them once it’s complete.

My first heli close encounter around 1200'. Heli was about 100 feet higher and upwind. I decided climbing away was my reasonable option before heading back upwind toward my LZ.

Very cool. How do you avoid other air traffic like helos and small planes?
@nategill2 ай бұрын
We have an app called "Gaggle" that will relay positions of aircraft with ADSB-Out. It feeds through our headsets. I usually have an ICOM a16 connected through bluetooth. Other than that, head on a swivel.

Awesome! About how fast can you fly with a paramotor? I think I may have a new hobby soon. This is super nice.
@nategill3 ай бұрын
My neutral speed is around 27 mph. So if I have a good tailwind and I accelerate my glider using my trimmers, I can cruise well over 50mph.
@wick81013 ай бұрын
@nategill That's a great speed for sightseeing. Are there faster paramotor's, and what is the stall speed?
@nategill2 ай бұрын
The glider gives speed, and there are faster ones. The paramotor just makes you go up. You can trim all the way in to go slower. You'll only stall the glider if you hold the brakes all the way down. Or something crazy is happening with the wind.

Don’t you feet fall to sleep hanging that long

I have never had that problem. Maybe it's the way I have the Fly Products harness set up. Not sure. Or maybe it was because I had to pee so bad that nothing else was registering in my brain.

Great edit of an awesome flight! What caused the motor to cut, idled too long? I love the low fog when Ty turned around, I wouldn't have been able to resist dropping down and plying in it!
@nategill3 ай бұрын
I thing my idle was off just a little. It's only happened a few times. Once while I was flying with you over the water in Eastern Shore.

That was a long one. I grew up in Charles City and New Kent but didn’t recognize a darned thing. I have yet to get up since coming back from Lake Wales. My ankle comes out the boot in a week and then I don’t know how long but you sure make me want it to come quickly.

Hello from Germany, I see your videos the last days and you fly a atom 80 with a sirocco 3. I plan to switch from a Dudek universal 25,5m2. Can you tell me your all over weight and your fuel burn or cruise rpm on the wing? I would be very appreciated 😊 Fly safe :D
@nategill3 ай бұрын
All up weight is around 105kg. I usually burn just under 3.5 liters per hour cruising at 7600 rpm. It's a 20m.

Such a fun edit of a great flight! I wish the winds had been a bit calmer but it was awesome sharing the sky with you!
@JimStanley34 ай бұрын
Does the color of the lines to the wing have any significance?
@nategill4 ай бұрын
It's mostly just to keep track of the 4(or 3 in some cases) line sets. A lines are in the front and support most of the weight. D lines are in the back. The lines keep the wing in the correct shape. You can adjust the trim of the glider with the risers to go faster of slower.

Nice ride ! Where is that VOR/RNAV beacon located @ 5:05? Love watching paramotor vids. Even took lessons. I’ve decided to stick with flying fixed-wing for a bit more safety’s sake (and a whole lot less work LOL).
@nategill9 ай бұрын
It's the Hopewell VOR. 20 miles Southeast of Richmond. Get back into the PPG flying. It's as safe as you make it. And the more you fly, the easier it becomes.

I live in Virginia and rarely make it down your way. But if you see somebody on the ground after a flight, feel free to approach them with questions. Maybe i'll see you in the air one day.
