Don't get me wrong. This video is really helpful but you just told the different forms of a data analyst. So eventually, when you apply for a "Data Analyst" role, you may not see exactly "Data Analyst" written in JD. So this video helps us to look for clues that tells us that these jobs are analyst roles only but with different domains or verticals, so be vigilant & we don't miss the job posting when it is actually a Data Analyst role.
@GetaDataJob13 сағат бұрын
Exactly, you'd be surprised when I asked people who are trying to become data analyst, but cannot get a job if they tried applying and searching for these other roles. They are variations of a data analyst or equivalent roles like you mentioned in different verticals, but not all are. Some are steps below a data analyst, but can be good stepping stones to becoming a data analyst. Or might be the only job someone can get which was my case with becoming a temp data entry worker. An example, would be the Healthcare roles like claims analyst, Healthcare business analyst, and Revenue Cycle Coordinator. Depending on the company, these are easier entry-level roles to possibly transition into or could be more competitive and higher-paying like the business analyst role, but in a high paying Healthcare segment. Same with Marketing Analyst. Depending on the company, this could be a data analyst just with a marketing focus or easiest to get into because they are more like a coordinator role with some data tasks. The latter is what is helpful to people trying to get that first role so they can start building experience if they are struggling to get a data analyst job. This is to help those who are newer to becoming a data analyst, but struggle actually on breaking into the actual role because of their experience. Exactly, like you mentioned look for clues and not miss it when it is actually a data analyst role.

I have 8 years of claims data analyst and ETL experience. I use SQL every day . I am looking for change now but all jobs I am looking at are looking for at least 3 years of power Bi orTableau or looker experience. I know power Bi but have no real time experience. How do I apply for such jobs or get at least an interview calls? I even applied to entry level jobs but they are rejecting my applications. Am depressed now.
@GetaDataJobКүн бұрын
Hi, I've worked with claim data in the past. I would just start using the data you can query and building dashboards in Power BI or Tableau. Think of pain points that your boss or department faces that could be more solved better or easier through seeing it in a dashboard. Do this while you're working where you can keep building these side project for your portfolio. You'll be able to get the experience you need in Power BI/Tableau so you don't get automatically filtered out during interviews. Also, the job market is rough where you'll need to play the number games and apply to a lot of companies. I find it helpful to set my expectations that it could take 500 to 1,000 applications before getting a job since that's the worst case I've been seeing. Can be discouraging to some, but I like knowing what my benchmarks are so I have a rough number to work with. I know it can get overwhelming, but the next video I'll be covering way to handle the overwhelm. What's worked for me is learning A.C.T. (Acceptance and Commitment Training/Therapy). I recommend looking into if you're feeling overwhelmed. Hope that helps!

This is just what I needed. I’m at step zero of my data analyst journey and am overwhelmed already. As to not wasting time what do u recommend as a starter for learning analysis. I’ve just subscribed to the google analysts certificate course assuming it must be the best one right? What would you do if u were me right now? Love the video will subscribe

How do I not waste time when I don’t know how to measure?
@GetaDataJob2 күн бұрын
You're welcome! I think the best place to start is to look at open jobs for entry-level data analyst or analyst roles with data responsibilities, even if it's just working with Excel. Looking at all of these open job descriptions and requirements will give you an idea of what you need to learn. Based on this, you can find a pattern of skills you need to meet the bare minimum for not getting filtered out. List out the most common skills and software needed for these jobs then use ChatGPT to help craft a learning plan based on your schedule and how much time you can devote to learning. If you're in school, I recommend getting an internship or just getting a job in the industry you want to work in so you can start building the experience that you need. If you already have a job, I have a new video coming out on how to leverage your existing job and start applying the data skills you're learning now. Doesn't have to be big projects just apply what you're learning in small ways till you have learned enough to make bigger changes. My guess is part of the reason you're feeling overwhelmed is because you are looking at how much you need to complete and then having thoughts that spiral because of the amount of work then those thoughts build on each other till you're overwhelmed. It helps to break up the goal of becoming a data analyst into smaller achievable pieces that aren't as stressful. Learn to mediate to help reduce the overwhelm so it's easier for you to take action. Again, ChatGPT is a great resource not only to help craft your plan but to help you navigate the overwhelm. Treat ChatGPT like a mentor that will help you navigate becoming a data analyst, but also as a therapist to help you talk through the overwhelm. It's been working for me tremendously in a wide variety of uses. I hope this helps! I'll create a future video to expand on my advice here if that helps!

The first 20 sec is where I am now. Also, how did you make it this long without SQL?
@GetaDataJob4 күн бұрын
@smrcreative23 Which 20 sec part and where are you now in your journey? For how long I made it this far without SQL, I used Microsoft Access to build databases and tools so for awhile so I didn't need to know advanced SQL. For awhile I just built the SQL statements in Access then translated it to SQL Server. In my career, I became more of a data analyst that did more Excel and Access VBA developing than reporting. And when I say SQL, it's not that I don't how to write SQL. I'm fine writing immediate level statements and complex joins. It's more that I don't know SQL Server to an immediate to advanced level. I can query and clean the data I need in SSMS, but things are just easier for me in Access using it as a front-end tool. But that's been the focus recently is converting all the old tools to a SQL Server backend and keeping Access as the front-end. Then learning to become more of an advanced user.

I studied physics and now I’m studying a master’s about data science, big data and artificial intelligence, I don’t have experience yet but a lot of courses and skills. Can I send you my cv and tell me what should I change ?
@GetaDataJob7 күн бұрын
I'm actually creating a form where people can submit their resumes and answer a questionnaire then I'll select out of the submitted resumes. So yes, if you're willing to let me do a video on it and share the makeover process on KZbin. Of course with redact and anonymous information. I won't show personal information or company information. I'll plan on making this a consistent video where I select a video from submitted resumes so I can help both people need their resumes enhanced and people who are watching can learn my reasoning behind what and how I change things. Since you were the first to ask, you'll be the first one! Once the form is ready, I'll send it to you if you're still interested. I'm working on it today and tomorrow so it should be ready shortly!

Data analyst or full stack development?
@GetaDataJob13 күн бұрын
Data Analyst and data science in general. I wish I prepped my learning towards becoming a data scientist or Quant. I didn't realize the various roles that I'd want to potentially become till later. The tips also apply to full stack development.

SQL plus the ability to work within Office 365 (Excel / Access ) has made me an automation expert. - VBA (coding within Excel/MS-Access). - SQL (work with any ANSI database --> Oracle, Sql Server, Snowflake, DB2, etc).
@GetaDataJob14 күн бұрын
Yes, working with VBA has helped me become invaluable to my department. I wished I learned Python earlier and focused more on building in SSMS instead of only working within Office 365. There's still great demand, but heading into a data scientist role, I need to upskill more.

These ideas on Data Analytics experience are exciting! I enjoyed your crypto channel, and by coincidence, I started Data Analytics just before seeing your new channel here!
@GetaDataJob2 ай бұрын
Heyyy! So glad you found the new channel! Crypto has been a side passion for a while, but I wanted to focus more on data analytics and upskill to stay current. I figured why not build a new channel while I'm at it? Plus, I’ve had a lot of friends asking me to help with resumes and interview prep, so I realized I could make a bigger impact helping people land data jobs rather than teaching crypto trading. Thanks for checking it out, hope you enjoy the content here too!
