The first three column Queens will be brown, violet and yellow. So, all the remaining coloured cells in the first 3 columns are crossed.

What makes you say that?

If you take queen at the start, the knight at c4 will take your queen. It's checkmate at the end when you take the black queen

Brown and orange queens has to be in the last 2 columns. So in the third column from right, I crossed all the orange cells and the only remaining cell is the purple one

The knight at d4 is threatening the Queen, so the engine took it with the pawn

Why would black not take the other knight using the queen to slow down the check mate

Good idea. This would definitely slow down the checkmate. I'm also surprised why the engine choose to protect the Queen instead of blocking the checkmate.

I guess some puzzles are designed in a way where the engine plays specific moves to test whether we can find the checkmate

The bottom row should contain a Queen, so all other pink cells were crossed out. The yellow, red, and orange cells were crossed out because if there is a Queen, all surrounding cells must be marked, which in turn affects the brownish, violet, and blue cells, respectively. In the second-to-last row, one of the light gray cells must contain a Queen, so all other light gray cells in that row were crossed out. Row 1, Column 8 (pink) and Row 3, Column 8 (brown) were crossed out because if they contained a Queen, then all light gray cells in Row 2 would be invalid for placing a Queen. The top three rows will have Queens placed on orange, blue, and green cells, so the red cells were crossed out.
