@@fabc944thanks! Wish I took a bit more risk and pushed a bit harder but there’s always next year. Only running 17 255s at the rear and 225s at the front… I think a square wide set up is meant to be fastest for track. No spacers but it’d look better with some half inch ones on the back

All cars that are more than 20 years old are slow comparing to actual ones. In Germany it is impossible to drive a old Porsche (944 or 944s2) on Autobahn. Each minute a young guy is coming from behind and wants to begin a race... "Look, my new rented car is faster than a Porsche..." So it is better to drive a normal car for not to run into problems with this idiots.

Nope the turbo is better, especially at the track. Can boost to 15 psi and get 300 hp wheel. Good as the S2 is, it ain't THAT good..

It All depends how the cars set up and the track/road…. having a little bit more top end power doesn’t mean much if you’re running a poorly maintained and crap handling non-MO30 set up turbo with the boost cranked to the moon on the poor original triple k turbo/induction system. Have beat plenty of cars with a lot more than 300 whp with the S2… the low end torque and tighter gears make a difference in the S2 when it’s not a straight line

Not that much at the moment but it’s how it’s instantly delivered through the ITBs which makes the big difference on track and it all adds up(surprising how noticeable the gains are with little increases). Once a few things are sorted it should be around 250 at the wheels

*Curious how the cars temps are after this i have a 1984 S2 944 and temps climb high after a 40min drive with squirts of speed up to 180kph im curious cause i shift at 5.5k rpm or less so i just want to know if the cars good if its at say 60% up on the temp guage?*

The car doesn’t climb temp wise only very slightly if I’m sitting at red line on the track for a few laps on another car’s bumper without much airflow… it sits about 1/4 even after long sessions at the track otherwise. It shouldn’t go up like that so maybe somethings not right

Have you changed both thermostats..one on block other on radiator..and look for traces of oil...just in case oil cooler might have leak...it's linked into cooling system if not you can use spic and span to clean out system know a few shops that do it pour in bring up to operating temp flush out refill...oh don't forget to burp system if there's air pockets you'll get a overheating situation

@@russellchristopher5657 apparently the S2 started development in laye 83, i also thought its just a S1 but no. Cars in with Porsche as we speak to refurbish everything cars only had one owner beforehand and is extremely well looked after.

I reckon a modern turbo with a Link G4 and a decent wastegate would be the way to go although it’ll be a big bill if I go down that route to make it reliable and have decent power. I think you’d need to do internals for decent power build

There’s been a 1982 na sat on a driveway round the corner from my house for years I’ve been round and looked at it doesn’t start but hardly no rust (apparently the early models had better steel) wanted it for years now but can’t store it anywhere

That’d be an interesting project and great to get it back on the road again. It’ll likely be cheaper to get a running one that you can drive however. Never heard that about the steel although mine came factory galvanised which helps.

@@LJC944 awesome! Engine might not need rebuilding you could ask someone local that knows a bit just to be sure. It would probably be worth doing or at least checking the fuel lines and the cam belt if it’s been sitting for while. But apart from that I hope you enjoy the car heaps!

@@MotorsportCentral The car felt really stable and safe at those speeds. I have a friend with a tuned 944 Turbo so I’ll try run that next year. Although as you know 944s weren’t built to go fast in a straight line… it’s crazy the track performance you get out of them with some good, break pads, suspension and tires. Normally 944 S2s are the same if not faster than the first and second gen Cayman S’s. the S2 doesn’t heat up much either so you can go out much longer on a track day than a Golf R or Audi/BMW on standard breaks

10k USD seems pretty high. But it’s better to buy a well mechanically sorted car than a car which has been neglected (miles don’t matter as much). If the car has had lots of key work done to it recently you’ll save money in the long run. But shop around/do some research

I reckon S2s make pretty decent race cars as they don’t get the heat soak the turbos and are super reliable on track… I have seen S2s that have been race cars there while lives on original engines and over 100,000kms of racing/track use

Yeah it’s a after market exhaust which sounds pretty good although a bit too loud when you rev it up haha… I’m glad I left the sound proofing in.

I think they were only available in Japan so everything about them is in Japanese… google translates your best friend there’s some awesome snow drifting videos out there and a lot of history if you start searching in Japanese
The turbo is more accessible. The S2 is more sought after.

My S2 is pretty solid and doesn’t seem to get as hot on the track as the turbo… although the S2 is behind on power as long as the Turbo driver can stay on boost… if the the turbo drops too much spool the S2 can get more corner exit speed
