How will California protect itself from Trump? Is it all show by Newsom or can he really protect people from mass deportations, keep climate goals in place, etc etc. I am still shocked by the outcome of this election and really thought we were better than this. Amazing place you went to btw. Had the honor of going there once. Very susceptible to climate change.

@ridealongwithscott Do you know if the state would even be able to? I really felt we were moving in the right direction with so many things, but this seems to take us into the dark ages.
@ridealongwithscottАй бұрын
@@luperamos7307 I don't know what our state government can do, but I do not doubt Newsom's determination to block fedral efforts and protect Californians. I agree that this is a setback to fulfilling the promise of America, and I am deeply saddened by the choice of so many of my countrymen. We just proceed, chin up and determined to make sure all people can live free, with completly equal opportunities. Mass deportations are not the promise of America, and walls don't stop migration from persecution and strife. America is a land of immigrants, and humans have always migrated since we left Africa 60,000 years ago. The conservitives don't seem to be very good students of history. America's diversity is it's strength, and we are all in this together. We will survive.

Great little highway. Took this route to get back to Vegas from Solvang, instead of heading south towards LA. Felt like stepping back in time along some stretches. I can see this highway has the potential to be dangerous with its single lane and limited vision around mountainous curves. Over taking has to be planned carefully as safe overtaking opportunities dissappear very quickly.

I was out in LA visiting a friend (first time back in 32 years) two weeks ago and drove Topanga Canyon from Malibu to highway 101. One of the most AMAZING roads I've ever driven or ridden on! My friend lives right near the Mulholland Drive/Laurel Canyon Blvd areas and I'd used to think that those were the best. Topanga is WAY better. Coldwater Canyon is a close second though. 🙂

I was out for a drive in the late '70s and stopped to get gas at station on corner of PCH. Had noticed a gal swerving in and out of traffic several cars behind me. She walked up to me in the station and said "my name's Mamu, I have a car just like that but mine's an Alpine. I live on Old Topanga near the corner. Want to come see my car?" Followed her up there, where she told me, "I live in that Tipi and my brother lives in the water tank". She said she was a Magic Mamu, and she could throw a mean Tarot and carried on without a comma that she was someone I should know. She had a snake for a pet, and an amulet and she was breeding a dwarf but she wasn't done yet. She had gray-green skin and a doll with a pin. I told her she was all right but I couldn't come in (I couldn't come in right then . . . ). And so she wandered trough the flap of fur just like a shadow from the tomb she said her stereo was four-way and I'd just love it in her cocoon. Well, I was born to have adventure so I just followed in her steps right past her fuming incense stencher to where she hung her castanets. She stripped away her rancid poncho and laid out naked by the door. We, um, smoked till we were un-concho and were useless any more. Modified lyrics of Frank Zappa's Camarillo Brillo. Can't help but think of these things whenever I go up Topanga. 7:49 LOL
