1917年でもこのようなルバートの弾き方をしていたわけか...なるほど...正しさが廃れていくということなのだろうか。

Although it is hard to tease out from the recording quality, this recording is old enough that the pianos still in use at the time -- maybe even for this recording -- may have differed significantly from the pianos of today, although I think completely modern pianos had already appeared.

I saw this live by a pianist called viktor maslov about 6 months ago. It was astonishing. I was privileged to hear it at just 16.

I had played that Rhapsody. It starts dark and diabolical at the start, loving and sentimental-y romantic in the middle, and then more agitated and martial, and finally, extremely satanic with the low Bb octaves at the final measures marking a very hellish doom. It should be called "The Mephisto Hungarian Rhaposdy" for this reason.

La cosa incredibile è che la qualità musicale, anche se sono denominati esercizi, è sempre straordinaria. Brahms è uno dei più grandi compositori di tutti i tempi.

Thank you for putting this on KZbin. My mother was a music teacher and Chopin was one of her favorite de-composers. She would frequently play his music when she wasn't teaching piano lessons.
