We used the 48 Willy's instead of the Farmall F-20 we had for quite a few things when I was a kid. It was particularly good with the sickle mower.

I used to plow with a 3 bottom trailer plow behind my 1965 CJ-5. As deep as it would go that jeep would idle in 2nd gear low range. It has a little 134 F-head engine.

After World War II jeeps were plentiful and tractors were scarce. These 3 point hitches were available and surprisenly they worked very well. My uncle had one and used it for years in place of a tractor

Interesting. I've always heard of these setups on old jeeps but never seen it done before. I did see an old jeep like this once run a multi-cylinder water pump with an installed PTO shaft. Neat stuff.

Looks cool and man look at that soil, this would never work at my farm we have 6 in max of hard bullite (hard yellow clay)soil over rock.

One of the first post-war uses for the Jeep....was using them instead of tractors. Pretty cool to see!

@RoadRashRiver There are lots of Jeeps still plowing snow and dirt and working in the woods. Just 'cuz you don;t see them in your area doens't mean they aren't out there.

@jeep2003 but its like comparing a tractor to a Cadillac one was built to work the other was built to stay on road and not do much

@mikes47jeep huh? maby lighter and lighter in the loafers. a new wrangler weighs 4300 pounds. thats twice as much as a willys!
@RoadRashRiver jeeps were very popular for this kind of work back in the late 40's, through the early 60's as i said once willys quit making jeeps, and kaiser and AMC and chrysler started production, they just got lighter and lighter, now a days a jeep is nothing but an on road car with 4 wheel drive

@RoadRashRiver What??? Jeeps were built to work, many out there have been through hell and back with minimal maintenance and are still running strong. Built with 3 point hitches, PTO’s, welders mounted in the bed, you name it a Willy’s jeep has done it They really are the little jeep that could After Willy’s lost the jeep they started slowly sliding downhill in quality and ruggedness WILLYS OVERLAND ALL THE WAY!!

I seen a jeep for sale with the three point hitch and rear pto about 20 years ago. It was just about scrap but wish I had bought it. Would've been great just to fix up and take to tractor shows.

Willys marketed their Jeeps to farmers after WWII, they had a PTO attachment and implements for them, tractors at the time were behind.
