Baton Rouge life time resident. No one wants to pay for a loop around town. So we will always have bad traffic. And taking a 2 lane road and stripping it down to one lane for a bike lane that is never used, is another reason we have bad traffic. Bad road maintenance is another factor of the bad traffic

I think we all know why you shouldn't move to Baton Rouge. And no, it's not TRAFFIC. Or walkability. Or weather. Or insurance rates. But yeah, that last one. You finally got around to it. 😂 For anyone considering move ANYWHERE in Louisiana, the houses are super cheap there for a reason. Take all that money you saved on real estate and buy lots of guns, bulletproof vests, military-grade protective fencing, guard dogs, and bars on your windows. And a carry-conceal permit.

Lived here my whole life. It is not terrible, like I’ve visited way worse places. BUTTTT you have to know where the nice areas are and the areas you do not ever fucking go to. The culture in BR is unique and interesting. Traffic is terrible though, before Katrina and other storms it used to not be as bad. Crime is bad in the bad areas. Basically if you live in BR you need to make decent money to afford a home in one of the nice parts of town I talked about before. People can talk shit about south LA, but the culture here is very rich and unique. Much more interesting than the majority of states tbh. I have cajun blood and as much as I talk shit about BR, there are parts of it that are really nice. I feel much safer in BR than I do in Nola. But this is also coming from someone who knows where and where not to go. The heat during summer with the high humidity is a killer though 🥵!!!

The video should have Baton Rouge changed to just Louisiana in general. Entire state is garbage with growing crime rates all over, the highest poverty in the country and the lowest education in the country. Pair that with the weather, it’s amazing people stay there.

@@louisianagirl7430 People are really standoffish there because almost no one there was actually born and raised there. To be honest, in my opinion, the people are very weird and if you're black, you have to deal with a lot of racism because Phoenix has a very large Mexican population and they don't seem to like our kind very much (There aren't that many of our people there in the first place) and the food is not really good, in my opinion. I lived there for about 3 years and that is the first city that I wanted to get out of so badly. As soon as I crossed the boarder from Arizona to the next state, I was relieved, but who knows. You may like it. That's just my opinion. Maybe you should plan a trip there and stay there for a couple weeks before moving there so you can see for yourself if you like it or not. That's what I do before I relocate to new city.

Baton Rouge is an absolute dump. I can't wait to get out of here. Most people here are extremely nice but constant crime everywhere overrides this. Can't even go out to my old favorite bars anymore because of shootouts happening all the time. People in this city literally don't know how to drive- I have to honk my horn at someone almost every day. To not be completely negative, the two things I do love is the food and good ole LSU football.

@@JakeKoenig I was particularly miserable the day I posted this because my windshield got cracked on I-12 for the second time in 2 weeks lol but so yall don’t think I’m just hating Ill list some reasons why I wouldn’t move here, especially if you come from the NE (NJ specifically for me). The first one is a pretty obvious one, it is too damn hot and humid for too long here. Give me cold winter days please instead of a year long summer. Second, I’ve found it particularly hard to meet people and I like to think I’m pretty social and friendly. To be fair, COVID hit 1.5 years into living here so that certainly didn’t help but even so, it’s been tough. I don’t belong to any religious organizations and I really think that’s why I’ve found meeting people so difficult. Who knows? My last and major one is that, unless you hunt or fish AND (this is a my major point on this topic) OR know someone who hunts or fishes down here with a boat and land or a lease on a camp, there’s nothing to do outside here. BREC parks are cool for awhile but they quickly lose their luster when it’s 100 and 70% humidity outside. Fishing the BREC ponds gets old quick too. I found the NE to have lots more publicly accessible land, with more trail systems and activities. Also, there aren’t any really nice beaches anywhere nearby unless you drive to Florida or wanna risk hopping in the disgusting gulf. But have fun with the traffic at the height of the season. Anyway, apologies for the essay, I felt I at least owed an explanation as my time here hasn’t been completely miserable like that post makes it appear.

Hurricanes are the best part of living here. Seriously. Everywhere has natural disasters, but here we get generally a 1-3 week warning to either get out or get ready. And if you have a bit of stuff stocked and a generator, you’re fine for 90% of them. But yeah, that’s the best part. It’s all shitty. You might think “Oh looks like you can do a lot of stuff outside, yk, long summers, etc.” Trust me, you don’t wanna go out there. The insane heat mixed with insane-er humidity is absolutely miserable for doing 99% of outdoor activities. Unless you’re trying to make weight for something through sweating. There’s a one month period here where the weather is nice, and it’s been getting noticeably worse the last few years. Also, Baton Rouge is (or at least at one point was) the HIV capital of the world (or maybe the US?). Idk either way, all most people do here is spread STDs, OD on opiates, or commit crimes. I went to LSU, it’s alright, but nothing to go out of your way for if it isn’t 100% free. One more thing, the food everyone talks about is mid at best. Visit during Mardi Gras. When you’re catching shitty plastic toys and fuckin fake boob squish balls, and you’re more hungover than you’ve ever been in your entire life, sweating your ass off next to the fattest man on the planet, just take a step back and realize that experience is the absolute peak of what this state has to offer. Thanks, have a good day❤️ PS if you have allergies, you will die.
