Where’s your cg at? I’m building one now and it’s right on the wing tube, might be tail heavy.
@upwardrcIsaacSmith3 ай бұрын
Right on the recommended CG line has been perfect for me. If you look inside the fuselage you will see the factory CG mark.

I traded mine to Garrett but after a while I traded something else and got it back. It's fun for a knock around plane that's easy to transport. When I had it the first time I didn't take the time to "play" with it. I'm planning to set up the AS3X better, as well as balance it better. Maybe a 4s 4000. (heavier for the nose) I took the Y off of the ailerons, used separate channels and set up the ailerons to move in the same direction as the elevator, OR in the opposite direction as the elevator like my friend Michael did with his. Just to try different things with a plane that's not my "favorite".

I wish I had seen this before assembling my SW 67 laser. The build is almost identical but there was very little guidance. You did some things I wish I would have done. The maiden is this week! I'm pretty excited.

Hope the maiden went great man!
@waynemiller60704 ай бұрын
@@upwardrcIsaacSmith The maiden was fine. Since then I broke 2 out of 3 rudder hinges. After replacing, (this time using epoxy with Vaseline where it hinges) I also sealed the hinge gap with covering. It's trimmed and flies terrific. I think SW makes a great model. I especially like the wing servo connections.
@upwardrcIsaacSmith4 ай бұрын
@waynemiller6070 Yeah. The rudder hinges broke on the second time out to the field for me as well. I ended up putting some stronger hinges on it.

Hi, thank you for your valuable video. I am not a 3D pilot, I carry out sport flights with some 3D figures. Could you tell me the recommended CG and the right excursions for low rate and high rate of this model? A thousand thanks. Maurice.
@upwardrcIsaacSmith4 ай бұрын
I would start with putting the CG about a third of the way back on the wing and then adjust from there for your liking and flying style. I run just high rates on my 3D planes. My ailerons at around 36-38 degrees, my elevator around 50 - 55 degrees, and my rudder just enough so that it runs parallel to the elevator cutout at full deflection. I would probably start with half those rates for a sport setup. I would especially tone down the tail rates.

Nice overview, just got the SW Yak 54 PNP myself. Just very bad practice to calibrate/change ESC settings with the prop mounted! If people follow along, please don't follow that step and remove the prop first. These props on 6S will send you to the ER within a blink.
@upwardrcIsaacSmith10 ай бұрын
Yep totally agree. I should have done that. If you mess up and get the motor reversed or something with the prop on you will be in big trouble.

I see that you have the EFLITE EXTRA 300 and the FLEX INNOVATIONS EXTRA 300. I have flown flat wing profile foams with some success. I want to get better at 3D in a smooth, slow, deliberate style. NOT blasting around, tearing up the entire sky. Out of the two airplanes, which one would you suggest. Right now, I'm not nearly the pilot that you are, but would like to advance my skills. Which airplane would you suggest as a next stepping stone to get to that point. Let me know please. THANKS.

I apologize for the delay in my response. It has been a little while since I have check into my KZbin page. I would definitely recommend any of the flex planes over the eflite extra.

Great video. I really want this airplane, but I'm hearing a few questionable things with it. I hear that in flight trimming is NOT possible due to the AURA 8 Stabilizer. also, I'm hearing that the motors go bed quickly on these airplanes. Can you tell me if these things are true. THANKS.
@upwardrcIsaacSmith4 ай бұрын
You definitely can trim it out in flight. You just trim it like normal on your radio and then tell the aura to “learn the trims”. It then saves the trims into the aura and you recenter the trims on your radio. I have not had any issues with the motor.
