Look at the 5-year chart of ARGT. It rose from below $20 to over $68 now, more than triple, and you recommend it now?? It should be in the "missed opportunity" category instead.

That was interesting about how in 1899 someone might have considered Argentina as a great country for the next 100 years just like the US but due to a some policies the future was totally different form what could have been That sort of reminds me of venus and mars which supposedly started out much like the earth but which ended up dead planets

So you avoid the companies that rise and have a big return. Seems not that smart. Momentum is a factor for a reason.

THIS MESSAGE IS INTENDED FOR DR. GRAY. I ASK FOR ANYONE READING THIS TO CONTACT HIM ABOUT THIS. I have a 6-figure position in BOXX. My reasoning for taking this position is that I could avoid taxes until I end the position (which will be in 2025; I need to keep my 2024 income as low as possible). On August 14, 2024, there was a distribution from BOXX. From the marketing, this was not supposed to happen, but of course it was always a possibility (detailed in the super-fine print). OK, I understand that stuff like this happens; I don't like it, but it would still be better than investing in a pure Money Market instrument. My brokerage (Schwab) listed this distribution as one for "short-term gain" and another for "long-term gain". I asked the tax team at Schwab how this would map out to a 1099 - which is where the rubber meets the road - and I have gotten a host of contradictory answers. I did get one staff member to admit that this distribution event was coded in some way by Alpha Architect (i.e., through the standard inter-brokerage system). I now have a "research case" there to get some clarity. I tried to call Alpha Architect, but no one ever answers the phone. I used the E-mail system at the website, but all that seemed to accomplish is that I got put on some type of marketing list. What I need to know from Alpha Architect is exactly how their coding will translate to the eventual 1099. Is the short-term gain really an ordinary dividend? If so, why was it coded as "short-term" gain? Is the total of short & long to be coded on the 1099-DIV in box 2a? If so, what other box will get coded such that to result in the separation into short & long gain? I've read about a 60/40 split with something about the 1256 rule, but this is obviously not the case, since the long/short split was not exactly 60/40 (although close). The Alpha Architect website has an article who claims that he is not "qualified as a tax attorney"; that may be all well & good, but the FINRA/IRS rules require Alpha Architect to deliver a proper 1099, and I see nothing on the website for an example of how a 1099 for such a distribution will be coded. My broker (Schwab) has even hinted that Alpha Architect can change the coding at any time up until Apr 15; if that is the case, then the distribution information is as worthless as the electrons moved to transmit it. I need answers to these questions so that I can grok how to handle this at tax-time - but more importantly so that I can do judicious income events to optimize my situation; however, I can't do any of that while Alpha Architect remains a black box.

So who's going to be cutting into their profit margins? Nvidia is years ahead of most companies and has accelerated the upgrades to their chips. You don't buy their chips you'll be left behind. Maybe in two years you might be correct, but not presently
@trappestarrgaming34224 күн бұрын
You never know what other companies have going on behind the scenes
@doug67234 күн бұрын
@@trappestarrgaming3422 It takes years to make chips. Most of the decent ones are manufactured overseas even if they're designed here. No company is close to Nvidia right now. Nvidia will be coming out with their new chip in the next quarter. Less than a year from now they'll have one that's even faster. Nobody is catching them any time soon.
@trappestarrgaming34224 күн бұрын
@@doug6723 it takes years to design a chip not actually making 1. Also like I said their could be companies right now designing sumthing better and not advertising that they're working on it
@doug67234 күн бұрын
@@trappestarrgaming3422 I'm sure these other companies are trying to build better chips. That doesn't mean they will. Nvidia has a big head start and is shortening the time they roll out there new chips. I don't see any company building a faster chip, ramping up to any meaningful scale and stealing Nvidia's thunder. At least not for two years or so. You're also acting as if Nvidia (the innovator) isn't going to continue to innovate themselves.
@trappestarrgaming34224 күн бұрын
@@doug6723 I nvr said that. All i said was that we dont know what other companies are doing behind closed doors and that anything could happen. For example anybody can grab a bunch of their chips then try 2 reverse engineer it. Find a weak point and improve it
