As a 51 year old, I can’t help but feel nostalgic for the late 80’s when we could live our lives without the constant urge to be wealthy just to survive. The punk ethos is what we so desperately need right now.

In general, I'm a tough guy. Many people ask me how I don't cry at many sad songs and movie endings unlike other people. But this... This is the only song that genuinely makes me cry, because not only the composition is beautiful, but I can also relate to the lyrics. You know that you composed something great when after listening, the audience feels the same way as you did while writing the song. Mike Palm has to be one of the most overlooked geniuses of rock music.

@@jamieshook2157 Thank you for sharing this with me. This is one of the most wholesome and lovely things I've read in a while. Also, thanks for influencing him to write this masterpiece. The works of Agent Orange have always stood out to me for being honest, personal and actually good music. Mr Palm was one of the inspirations for me to pick up the guitar. He is someone whose songs helped me get through difficult times in my life, while also giving me good advice. It must be great to know one of my role models personally. Again, thank you for sharing this with me. I wish you good luck and prosperity! Stay strong! ❤ with love: András from Hungary

The curse of being an "ideas guy" when you're young and then when you're old enough for your ideas to be listened to your mind is some shitty ass clay that's hard and cracking and you're presenting it to a whole different audience. Time is short and unforgiving, listen to the youth and give them power. They understand the world they live in better than the world you thought you knew.

My best friend mail ordered this cassette from the adress at the end credits of Useless Wooden Toys. We jammed this on his boombox non stop in the 8th and 9th grade on his lil half in the backyard. I'd give almost anything just to live one of those days one more time.

The Blanks loved this song so much, we kept covering it live, long after I no longer drummed for ARP and they had broken up (by early 1989). We loved singing the chorus: "Why should I care if the sun falls down If the sun never shined on me Why should I sweep streets I'll never walk down Is it life, or is it the world, or is it me?"

So did they reissue Van Stupid with different, more 9/11 respectful sleeve art?? The original cover shows people falling out of the plan. I am guessing that beneath the sticker there is the same aeroplane from the original.
