Sadly no. It was introduced in MicroStation CONNECT about 7 years ago. In my 35 years of using MicroStation, I think this could be the best User Interface shortcut ever. When I show Users moving from V8i to MicroStation CONNECT, they feel much more at ease about making the move.

Hi, I'll assume you work at Caltrans because you are looking at this video. The "Plot Shape" is already in the Border Cell. The Cell name is FULPLN, that's for Roadway Drawings. There is a Shape Element in the Cell that has the following Attributes: Level = border_SHEET Color = 16 Line Style = 7 Weight = 0 Class = Construction Hope that helps :)

How do I make hidden levels to remain hidden indefinitely until I turn them back on? At the moment, any hidden levels would reappear every time I reopen the dgn.

Hi, Before you close the DGN file, Save Settings. You can do by using the keyboard short (Ctrl + F). Saving you Settings will save a lot of things, like Zoom ratio, Active Level, Color, Style and Weight and so much more :) HTH! Also, on the Preferences dialog under Operations category, there is an option to Save Setting on Exit.

emphatically agree with 1:30 : include headers in your text and excel files. Always make your data self-documenting. Most import mechanisms allow skipping one or more initial lines. Nothing more frustrating than an unnecessary time-consuming reference chasedown or reverse-engineering the data.

Sir, while we choose level in the attributes but it wont change the color and weight and level style ,May I know what's the issue in MicroStation connect edition, In our company we are using connect edition we have separate workspace,They provided default level for deferent department but for example already one text is there i wanted to change the text level from 2.5 to 5mm while I choose that level but it wont appear in that text

If I understand your question correctly, you are mainly asking why the Active Color, Active Line Style and Active Weight are not changing when you change the Active Level. If that is your questions, then the answer is the Color, Line style and Weight all need to be changed to "ByLevel" Then they are controlled by the Level. Hope that helps

Hi, Select By Attributes (SBA) and PokeIt are very similar tools, the biggest advantage I see is the easy of access PokeIt offers, it's right there on the Context Menu. Another difference is that PokeIt has the Place Similar feature, SBA can't do that. So glad to hear you are using SBA! It's been in MicroStation for many decades, yet not that many people know about it. Cheers!

Hi Sam, CT staff here. This text fav (place note) tool has been so helpful for me in getting the r/w take areas. Imagine 3 build alternatives with a total of +100 parcels but I did it in a breeze because you made it so easy to set this tool up. My only question is, my area text/note would always have a shade/background. Sounds like a simple fix but I've looked around, couldn't find the check box. Do you know why this is happening? Very helpful tutorial videos, BTW.

So glad you found the video helpful in your day-to-day work! As for your question. Text has a "Background" option. Since you are using the Place Note tool, it uses the Dimension Styles to control the Text appearance. Select the Place Note Tool, on the Tool settings window, select the Dimension Styles icon pencil on book looking icon) On the Dimension Styles dialog, choose the Text Tab. See what Text Style is being used. Now open the Text Style dialog. Select the Style that was being used on the Dimension Styles dialog. Select the Tab called Background. Uncheck the option Background. Save you Design File Settings and from this point forward, your Place Note will not use the Background option. To change all the Notes you have already placed, use the Element Selection and select all the Notes. Then use the Change Dimension Tool to update the Select Notes. Hope this all makes sense!

@@CaltransMicroStationVideos Thanks for the quick reply. I'm able to find the background box and there is no check, but somehow, the text still has a background. I'm finding out though that the background does NOT print, which is a good thing. Only thing is, when I use the blue color for the text, I could barely see the text because of the translucent background. Your sample though didn't have the background I have.

How do you define the display text from the associated file? in this case how/ where was the word "Anchor" defined? is it defined by element or a cell? if the leader points to a different location of the drawing, say the fence on top, can that be identitfied? Hi, In the Video i zoomed in on the Tool Settings window and unfortunately the Text Editor window was not completely visible and you could not see where I was typing in the word Anchor. As for placing the Terminator for the Note, you must Snap to an Element in order for the Association to work, so as long as you Snap to an Element, you are good. I hope this answers your questions. Hi, when you say along multiple Elements, are you asking about lines/arcs that look like they are one element? or Elements that are totally separate? If you are asking about Elements that are not chained together, like lines and arcs, but look like one Element, unfortunately no. the Tool only works on LineStrings, Arcs, Shapes, Complex Chains, Complex Shapes and Shapes. Hope that helps :)

@@FaithandFun If you are talking getting the length of multiple Elements, you can use Element Selection, select all the Elements. Then select the Measure Length Tool and the total (sum) of all the Elements will be displayed.

@@md-mohammed8455 The current version of MicroStation is MicroStation CONNECT Edition (MSCE). It has been out for 6 years. What type of tools are you looking for? V8i was a 32 bit program, MSCE is a 64 bit program and any code written for V8i might need either tweaking or a rewrite.

If you add a reference file and want to edit the text , how do you do that?

Hi, You can "Activate" the reference file. Right Click on an Element in the Ref file and you will see an option to Activate. You won't be able to Activate if some else has the file open or it is Read Only. When you are done, Right Click anywhere and you will see an option to Deactivate Default. Hope that helps!
