Thanks. I have done this before. I was successful. I should have watched your video prior to doing my second one. It is useable but I forgot to chamfer the hole prior to pinging it. So it is a little loose in the barrel but it still does the job.

Excellent video. Excellent way to fix spring barrel hook which is worn and breaks off if you try to bend it. Saves the day for me!

I have seen people do something similar except that they used a screw instead of a nail. They threaded a hole in the barrel to get the added strength.

Old type rivets that are hammered over to fit. may do the job. As sharp and size may be available, for steam train models. Look about Wright.
