+thesage1izinski I beg to differ. When the video is titled "70's snl original cast", the description says "Original cast members of NBC's Saturday Night Live", and you have an Eddie Murphy skit in it....that's exactly what's being said. Murphy was neither original, nor 70's.

I loved the cast of Saturday Night Live, but SNL was not the 1st "political satire" show as in a show I am watching right now called "Christmas Through the Decades". Not mentioned on this program was 1960's shows: "The Smothers Brothers", featuring Pat Paulson & Share a Little Tea with Goldie. The other show was "Laugh In" with Goldie Hahn, Lily Thomlin, Artie Johnson, Ruth Buzzie etc. with numerous guests. Both these shows were loaded with political innuendo. I love SNL, but quit giving it as the original of this type of genre.
@johndates98278 жыл бұрын
+Gail Taylor I believe one of the first programs of political satire was a show called " That Was the Week That Was" on ABC. I think it ran for only 1/2 a season.

*MY THANK YOU TO THE ORIGINAL SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE CAST :)* I hope yas don't mind -- Uploader & folks reading - It's close to my heart - and my adult children's hearts as well, as they've also loved them through the years! The original SNL cast gave us some celebs who have entertained us for years an have given us many laughs and for many of us too, was our favorite season. (My SPECIAL thanks to the uploaders of all the Season One videos, by the way, so I can as can we all, relive some of those moments as many times as we wish to. Those I especially thank for making that possible are the several uploaders. They've given us the gift of making it possible for us to revisit old favorites, some who have even passed on - so also the joys of seeing these skits, these programs, 40 years later as we'd like and laugh until we cry as we relive history, hysterical history, any time we choose to view it all again. :) ALL of you who have made this possible for us, the long time fans, who consider your work of seeking them out and uploading them all irreplaceable and pricelss to some of us and again thank you profusely for making it all again possible to laugh again with the old favorites, the SNL's "pioneer" Cast Members! *ISN'T IT JUST SO HARD to believe that 40 years have just flown by?* Thank you ALL, ALL of the SNL cast members and Lorne Michaels......you'll always live on in our hearts. You've never stopped, nor has your work we still enjoy, and we always will remember both your SNL days that made me laugh, smile, and cry, and your entire bodies of work. Amazing!! I may be missing some from later seasons (though I hope not many if all, they're so talented, But I would also like to say Rest in sweet peace always and forever to one of my teenaged 'heroes', "Roseanne Roseannadanna" (SP?) herself & Baba Wawa ~ Mrs. Gilda Radner! Also to another "pal", John Belushi. No doubt, your fans like me still miss you both! Though my 'bets' are on Gilda being missed most by her percious husband who's STILL making us laugh and entertaining us ~ this dear man and her loving and precious widowed husband who loved her more than we even know, Mr. Gene Wilder. This gifted and amazing couple always did make us laugh so, Gene still does! I can't remember which of their SO many skits I liked more! With Gilda - "Roseanna" & "Baba" obviously, and with John there were SO many to name so for now I'll choose his skits with Dan working the hamburger shoppe/the Bees/the Coneheads. "Roseanna's' Commentary after the "News" was always so funny and one I have never forgotten especially was titled, "Let's make Puerto a Steak." (A STATE!! -- uhh....Never mind........) I can still hear her in that voice! How we laughed!! PLUS..WHO can stop at one? LOL I wanted to catch some new skits having missed the show, but I am back at the season one videos, of course! THANK YOU Mr. Lorne Michaels & Saturday Night Live crews over the past forty (now plus) years of laughter as we look forward to 40 more years of laughing, and in SO many cases, laughing until we cry!! My love & Prayers to ALL Cast Members, past and present and of course, future too. Amazing show, so hysterically funny! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~so once AGAIN ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~Thank you ALL so, so very much!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Murphy started SNL in '80.. okay, so the person who did the video was off by one year. Boohoo. The music isn't even that bad. You're getting all worked up over absolutely nothing.

n7hevn He tried! We have some glimpses here of the original Saturday Night Live crew. You have to remember, the technology that we have today, we didn't have then. I don't know, maybe I am just TOO grateful to people who do me (and others) the favor of locating and uploading pieces of American TV history. *In a day when *TOO little on TV is even worth watching anymore*, people like this video's uploader, thesage1izinski, are worthy of thanks and some appreciation - at least in my opinion. I do thank you, sir.
@TheMistysFavs9 жыл бұрын
MattyFizzle04 - This person commented on how the uploader did a few things differently that really doesn't matter at all. He went through the work of making it to please others. fjjjjjsdlfjslakjdf made a simple comment regarding this to you and because this video happens to not be made up to YOUR 'standards", you need to respond to the commenter, not in kind - or just say nothing in response to him at all - you chose to dig out your vitriol and call him as a "dumbass." Hate poisons the soul! Quit being such a big part of the problem, and try being the solution. All of this hating each other for absolutely NO reason is only further destroying humanity and wrecking our country. Shame on you.

The ORIGINAL cast of SNL was: John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner and Loraine Newman. They were called The Not Ready For Prime Time Players and the year was 1975. If you have stated anything else, you are WRONG. Do your research before spouting off about something you obviously know nothing about.

I would kill to again see the Radner-Curtin Weekend Update skit where Roseanne makes Jane Curtin snap when she points to her breasts and says, "Hey, Jane! Are your two thin's the same size?", whereupon Curtin rips open her blouse and screams, "See for YOURSELF, Roseanne Roseannnadanna!"... and she's wearing a sexy black lace bra! Roseanne then rests her forehead in her hand like a disappointed parent, as Jane begins to slowly realize what she has just done on broadcast TV. The audience, of course, was literally screaming. Anybody else remember that one?
Loved the greats here - as you said, Jacob, this is when SNL was actually funny. Each star's character(s) were unforgettable - loved John on the nightly news at times, Gilda as Roseanne, especially. Did Garrrett Morris do his take on Tina Turner on this show (Proud Mary) ? I saw him do it somewhere in the past. Priceless..

Was he an uncredited writer? I can't recall seeing his name anywhere in the end credits during that time.. As for Chevy, he did a solid first season, but he flaked out early in the first half of season two and was absent from quite a few shows. The second half of season two doesn't feature Chevy as a player at all aside from a random appearance or two and some ad parody re-runs. Bill came on at this time and then finished out Chevys season while Chevy was off doing GoldieHawn movies..
