Nice work, looks great. I assume that was Rusteoleum primer which is actually pretty durable paint. Painted the bed of my '61 Corvair Rampside with it oh 50 years ago and it's still good. I'm impressed how quickly yours started. I just saw a 35 Turf Special locally for $450, but it needs a new radiator. I'm working on a '75 Ford 231 (LCG) used for highway mowing, but it has a loader. Had to rebuild the Diesel injector pump, but everything else seems to work fine. Tom in NJ

Hi Tom! I used Majic red oxide tractor, truck, and implement primer from tractor supply. When spraying, I did add hardener to make the paint more durable as well.

Were i in your shoes I'd get that brushog and tractor on a good flat surface, drop the tail wheel to it's lowest position (highest cut), and level the brushog and tractor as one unit with your 3 point screw. There is no benefit to hogging that low unless the next step is to apply glyphostate. If you raise your hog up to the highest cut you'll pass over the rocks and stones, you will get a much better chop and distribution of the cuttings because they won't be trapped under the deck, your plants will grow thicker and eventually crowd out the brambles and your field will look a lot better. Give it a try. You won't be sorry. :) Good luck!

Hi Steve, I will definitely try out your recommendation. I believe the adjustment arm on the 3 pt hitch however, is seized. So I may have to fight that a bit. One thing I also noticed in the past when trying to "level" out the brush hog is the lock washers do not seem to be holding the bolts tight any longer. So if I extend out the top link it collapses the mounting brackets on the top of the brush hog. I'm sure a quick trip to the hardware store would cure that issue though. If not, I always have a welder lol

it's a good thing you cleared out that brush so you'd have a nice place to drop those trees and save those pines. :) That's how it goes sometimes. So it's a couple of pines for the burn pile too. That brush seemed dead and if so was a fire danger anyway. I'll be doing all kinds of brush clearing at my place this summer myself. A excavator is the only way to go for that job, roots and all.

One word of advice, show more actual work and less talk, we really do like to see the details, i know it is lot of work to film it and then show it is at fast speed but that is it, otherwise, good video, keep it up.

I would pull the head and if the cylinder walls are good then just change the head gasket and have the head checked out for straightness and valve guides and seals. If that’s all it needs it’s not that bad. Stay positive. Looks like a nice machine overall.
