Depends what the customer or homeowner wants their stair runner installed!

Thank you because I’m redoing my son’s room after my youngest had a potty training accident that went unnoticed and I couldn’t steam clean the smell of urine out. Pulled up the old carpet as a whole piece with thoughts of using it as a template. Also found out the professional installers from the original carpet installed the padding upside down, which is why the smell from that small spot wouldn’t leave because it soaked into the actual foam of the pad. The plastic barrier was on the bottom side instead of the top. Smh
@joeperkowski6 күн бұрын
One thing is the padding stapled or glued?

Hi Keith not sure if you're still replying but i have a question. I'm doing some finish carpentry on my rough framed stairs. The bottom 3 steps are just like shown in this video except my stair tread is cut flush to the stringer so theres no over hang to wrap carpet. Should i glue and screw wood to the end of steps to wrap carpet over or can you pros make it look nice with out it? Thank you in advance.
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet7 күн бұрын
Sure, you can add a piece on the end so you can wrap it over when we would run into a situation like yours we would leave extra fold the carpet underneath itself and then tack it in to the wall if you add the extra piece to wrap obviously it will look better. It depends on the situation.
@dden76709 күн бұрын
Quick question. I've seen you do it with and without the side tack strips. What's the difference between the two methods?
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet9 күн бұрын
It stays tighter and in place with the strips on the outside / especially the bigger or wider the tread👍

It set for ten minutes the peanut butter and ketchup/ catsup were easy fast clean the mustard took a bit more / I will show the complete clean in the next few videos

I would run painters tape down sides of steps then you won’t have to keep checking distance from wall and rail or cut two wood for a gig. For all the DIY people out there

Hi Keith, I'm a carpet fitter in Ireland, I would never get away with that way of fitting here, we always use gripper,(short pin), double sided tape on the tread edges and never use electric staple gun unless every stair is being bull nosed, different countries fit different ways I spouse, anyway not a hater just letting you know how we do things over yonder, keep up the good work and don't staple your finger👍👍

Hi there I live in a 2nd floor flat but has a spiral staircase literally about 6 steps, then goes to a square landing thrn more steps going down but has about 5 funny shaped spiral sections more than what you have done in video... I've used staples but this shows everywhere when I have put carpet tiles down not carpet. Is there any easy way to do the curviture sections using carpet tiles.
@dden76702 ай бұрын
Hey Keith, I've been watching a lot of your videos to figure out how to install a carper or a runner (still deciding which) on some stairs. I have a couple of questions. 1- for a runner, do you use those tack strips or not? Some do, some don't. 2- Can I use an 18 gauge stapler or do I need to use a carpet stapler? 3- Which is easier for a diy with a couple of winding steps, full carpet or a runner? Thanks Again.

Is it the same method for landing installation for lvp flooring?
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet3 ай бұрын
Do a test with the Staplegun to see if it will penetrate the LVP first / if not you will need to do a tackless install
