Oh man, you put way too much torque on your screws, the plastics will get cracks or break. I installed the same armrest but did a central axis hole at the vertical of the hole of the original rear cup holder. With a long metal screw i managed to traverse the empty space of the cup holder and screw in the metal body hole of the chassis. It creates a triangular tension that firmly sit the armrest and gives it a lot of stability and rigidity.

Sorry to only see your video now ... but that armrest is a bit rubbish compared to the original vw up armrest. the original can carry 90kg and is easily removed with 4 6mm bolts when the handbrake needs to be fixed.. But besides that, keep posting videos. and hope you are happy with the armrest and car

I concur, but the very high price and difficult availability of the original armrest is a big bummer.

you don't really have to screw in the base into the car console and basically damage it. You can use soft sticker pads that you use for furniture legs to protect laminate e.g. It will sit snug in there and can be easily removed if needed.
