That Harrigan was just a cheating Ref.
@hardtoke20 күн бұрын
Oh really, Harrigan does nothing about an on field stink and lets the game go on... Ashley Klein is a sleazy ref, makes a team lose and then gives a few penalties the other way to try and disguise his corruption.

I remember Minto's leap for that winning try. The Broncos only win in their last 10 games considering they'd led the comp at the midway point of the season. They really had a happen of going on these horrible post origin skids in the early to mid 2000's.

Hancock & Sailor = 2 of the most overrated wingers in Rugby League history.
@Giveme1goodreason15 күн бұрын
lol. Dell is the best winger ever. He changed wing play completely and the only reason he didn’t play 50 tests and 30’origins and score 200 tries is he went to the rah rahs. Hancock managed 127 tries and was ferocious in his partnership with Steve Renouf.
@filipina595314 күн бұрын
@ If you think Sailor is the “Best” winger ever, then maybe rugby league isn’t the game for you Chief, or maybe you’re just a one eyed Broncos tragic. Bad positional winger, on a good day, handling errors consistently, and major flaws in defence. And as far as Hancock is concerned, was never too hard for attacking players to get on his outside (1st rule in the wing three quarter manual = NEVER LET YOUR OPPONENT GET ON YOUR OUTSIDE) would take 4 x steps back, 2 x steps sideways, then 1 x step forward, not to mention the psychotic (Ferocious 🤣) frenzy he’d break into when resenting a copybook tackle. And both of them had the huge benefit of playing on the outside flank of an international backline, whether it be at National, State, or Club level. Plenty better than this pair, can assure you that!

As much as I am a rugby league fan the super league competition in 1997 doesn’t count because it was a rebel league made for all the wrong reasons money and disloyalty.
@Giveme1goodreason7 ай бұрын
Yep, except the highest paid team in history of rugby league was the 1997 parramatta eels. And turning a sport genuinely professional and profitable is hardly a wrong reason. Plus aside from many every premier for the decade prior played super league so the ARL was the cheap model league.

No doubt about it this is game to forget for the Newcastle Knights. No doubt this game is Newcastle Knights biggest ever loss in the Club’s history
@K.J.S.est199411 ай бұрын
2007 was when the dark ages for the Newcastle Knights truly began following Joey’s retirement followed by a terrible decade of the 2010s after getting three wooden spoons between 2015-17, until Kalyn Ponga came along in 2018 and in 2023 when the Knights were showing forms of competitiveness again. (Outside of making the preliminary final in 2013 of course) let’s hope my comment ages well.

The Roosters made one change to their starting lineup for this game and that is Craig Wing will start the game on the bench cause he played in Friday’s Test match with Australia so Stuart Webb will come off the bench into the Starting Hooker.

The Roosters coming this game in 10th position with 3 wins and 3 losses so far in season 2005. The Roosters won their first two games against Rabbitohs and the Panthers Respectively before losing 3 games in row to the Broncos, West Tigers and the Raiders respectively before they bounced back in round 6 when the Roosters beat the Bulldogs 29-16 at Telstra Stadium. While the Roosters opponents The Dragons are under enormous pressure and they are sitting in 14th position coming into this ANZAC Day game and it’s must win for The Dragons. They’ve lost their first 4 games in a row against the defending champions The Bulldogs, The Storm, The Panthers and the Raiders respectively until they finally secure their first win in season 2005 was Against Manly Sea Eagles at WIN Stadium in Wollongong where the Dragons beat the Sea Eagles 32-6 before they lost to the Brisbane Broncos 34-24 in round 6

You know I keep watching these games from 1999 and at the time everyone was saying Alfie was so badly out of form that he retired. I’ll be honest, while obviously not at his devastating best, he was still playing well. At least comparable to peak Noel goldthorpe.
