i'm just discovering Orthodoxy..... the biggest research project ever.... the most intense paradoxical mystical encounter of my life.... transformative.... ancient.... potent..... mysterious...... although i'm still afraid of it in some ways.... i dare not speak ill of The Church now that i have discovered it..... it just isnt what i was expecting.... such is the House of Wisdom.... check your ego at Her doors.... dare to venture into a strange new land... i dont think anything like else Orthodoxy exists on earth.... i suppose i should try to join .... it isnt easy....

i am currently transcribing this.....the you tube transcription is horrific. i have searched high and low for this copy in print but was given a different version by an Greek Orthodox priest but I truly enjoy this exact version. This is in 3 parts the 1st is the Paraklesis the second is the cannon and the 3rd is prayer....youll have to look at the titles...on each segment.

What does it mean to ask the mother of God to "Save us?" In America, save means salvation found in Christ Edit: Thanks for the Answers. I’ve since become a member of an Orthodox Church!
@grantgombert60796 жыл бұрын
In the Orthodox Church we believe that the saints are those who are alive in Christ, even though they are now dead in the earthly sense. They are forever with Christ as we all hope to be one day. Of course salvation is through Christ, but just as we ask fellow Christians here on earth to pray for us, we can ask Christians who have passed from this earthly life to pray for us. The words "save us" here is not saying that the Mother of God can save us in place of Christ, but rather is a desperate cry for help. It is a way of expressing how deeply we need the aid of others who would pray for us. The scriptures and the long history of the Church teach us that the Mother of God has a special familial relationship with Jesus as his mother (think of Jesus looking down from the cross and making sure his mother is cared for in John 19:26-27). Additionally, the Miracle at Cana (John 2) shows that Jesus is willing to listen to the prayers (requests) of his mother. Thus, we cry, "Save us!" asking her to come to our aid as God's beloved mother and an exemplary saint united Christ for all eternity.

Through her prayers. She has a special boldness as Christ's Mother, and so we ask her to save us through her prayers.

the little dragon find an OCA (Orthodox Church of America) church, or any Christian Orthodox Church. Some Christian Orthodox Churches, in America, alternate between English and the specific church's ethnic community it represents. You will hear these chants in any Christian Orthodox Church.

@@ranksofangels2748this paraklesis is usually done during the dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in parishes. Some monasteries do them everyday or atleast weekly.
