next time try a bigger sail, straighten your back and shoulders and point the mast closer to 90 degrees to the board. not sure from the angle, but i think you can get the boom a little higher on the mast

Sorry, I didn't make one. I was watching Jason Harrelson's videos (whyharrelson.com) and he suggested the widening so I thought of a DIY. I felt the back pressure was lessened (free blowing as some said, can be a personal preference/perception). These day I play Lotus mouthpieces and they seem to be okay with that already.

Excellent! And, put the index and middle fingers together and rest them on the seam (seam between the two fingers), and throw it a bit sideway like normal throwing, it can be a sweeper/slider. Have fun!

Could be a stuck screw rusted out? Perhaps applying a bit of the anti-seizure can help (use a cotton swab). Good luck!

For slower (and classical type of) music, a regular depth or a bit deeper cup is usually preferred. Shallower cups are good for faster notes (but with reduced tonal color, i.e., bland). Larger rims deliver sounds with depths, too. All these are just my guesses and generalizations. One has to try out since own sound characteristics differ.

You have just destroyed years and years of tests and know how from Legère. The sandpaper you have used is used for heavy woodworking applications and the quantity of material left on the table testify that you have destroyed the reed. Do not blame the reed. Practice more instead...

I saw on your flute video you have teardrop lip - how do you manage trumpet embouchure with teardrop lip? Do you play off centre also? I have teardrop lip too and I can’t get clear sound as the flesh of teardrop flaps and crackles the note 😢

I thought of that, too, and tested playing off center but no obvious differences for trumpet. I guess creating an air turbulence via a trumpet mouthpiece differs creating a concentrated air stream to hit the lip plate edge on a flute. Cracked notes occur more when I use a mouthpiece too large, or my embouchure is tired.

Of course! BTW, fewer trumpet players play off center. I believe it's the teeth/gums behind the lips causing the preference (weakness/unevenness). I can be wrong. It took me years to get an okay embouchure but totally worth the effort. Good luck!

Not sure, could be a pad leak. Try use small pieces of scotch tape to tape/hole down the keys you cannot directly press. If this makes it play better, it's the key alignment. Otherwise, use more tapes to seal around those keys, and if that plays better, it's probably one or more pad leaks in those taped keys. Good luck!

I'm guessing it's a Lawton. I had a metal one in the 80s. Great ligature design.

It reads Lawton 8 (size # I guess) on its side (somewhat visible in the video). I don't know much about it (came with the used sax) but it sounds natural compared to a metal Yanagisawa mp (also came with the sax). It has a convenient design with the ligature that can slide along the side groves and a rotating knob to fasten the reed.

I’ve tightened the screw for the A# cup all the way it will go and there is still a delay in the synchronization of the keys. Any advice?

if you can insert a tiny piece of tape onto the front of the screw or the surface where the screw touches, that may act like "extending" the screw (like it goes forward more). otherwise, that key pad needs to be thickened (which is harder to do)

Hello sir , I have a C scale flute with lip plate, ( I am a beginner) after removing the lip plate i am not able to play my flute the sound is not proper , especially the "pa" ,, Plz tell whether i should paste the lip plate again or as a beginner i should keep learning without lip plates? Also if i will learn with lip plate on , then will i be able to play different bansuri without lip plates or not ?

Without the lip plate!? It''s amazing that you can still play it. It's to prevent your lower lip from touching the head joint and thus interfering with the vibration that makes sounds. Flutes made by other materials are designed differently to play without the need of a lip plate. Good luck!

Before watching this, I took a flat head screw driver and a hammer to my flute to adjust the lever that presses down the loose key when you press your right index finger. Was sure that would fix it. I was wrong. But, I haven't done much damage to it, it's reversible. I think this video will fix the issue I'm having, but it's the middle of the night and I can't test the flute. Tomorrow morning hopefully should be all good.
