This has inspired me to bring new life into my first shotgun I ever owned. It's been just sitting for the last 10+ years and now I wanna bring it out and put a new face to it Thank you for spending the time to make this 4 part series for people like myself also I think I'm rocking a 22" barrel so im excited to see how mine will turn out

Smith & Wesson and Ruger are both incredible. I love both. However, S&W quality control on their revolvers has fallen off a cliff. S&W needs to fix this. It's been going on for a few years now. Be careful purchasing a new S&W revolver without inspecting it in person before the sale.

Not no more. There going for $750 now add shipping $19, tax, and alot of FFL don't care to deal with online orders as there's no money in it for them and charge $25-$60 for a transfer these days. So that Ruger is easy $800 if you are looking to buy one today.

Bad solution. You can buy thicker takedown pins.

Ive aways looked at purchases like this as heirloom guns. They dont decrease in value over the years.Plastic guns loose value and desire the minute you walk out of the store.Sure they have their place but would you prefer to hand your grandson a steel gun or a plastic one.

I have not heard of ' a lot of people ' having problems w/ the lock on S&W revolvers, I have several Smiths w/ the lock w/ zero ' problems ', where people get the idea that Smiths are not strong I do not know ?? And where oh where did you get the idea that your Ruger revolver is ' built like a tank ' ? Is that an original thought ? Is it because the Ruger has a thicker top strap than Smith and Wesson revolvers but otherwise has similar dimensions ?? Huh ?? Well I suppose if you are going to drive 16 penny nails with your revolver.......perhaps the Ruger ' may ' hold up a bit better than a Smith. However when you compare the metal thickness in the cylinder of a Smith 686 or 586 verses the cylinder of the GP 100, dimensions are virtually identical. Both the Smith and the GP 100 are going to hold up equally well regardless of what kind and however many rounds you put through either one. I own many Smith revolvers and I own two Ruger GP 100s, one stainless and the other blued and both with 5" barrels :-}, and I have owned three Colt Pythons in the past. I will attest that yes the Pythons are very pretty but the actions of the originals ' are not ' as robust as either the Smiths or Rugers. And I will say that I do really like the ' lock up ' of the Rugers. And I will say one more thing. I love Smith revolvers. They are things of beauty and have virtually been made the same for way over one hundred years now. That says something ! But I will say that in my minds eye, the Ruger GP 100 is a very, very ' pretty revolver ' in it's own right. As are the Red Hawks and Super Red Hawks.

This model co stars in the movie Run All Night where old hat mob enforcer Jimmy Conlon(played by Liam Neeson) takes on the whole 'company' with their autos and he cowboys the whole bunch with his GP 100 and his long term earned craft skills and savy. And finally takes out a high-tech pro named Price with his laser guided auto ,body armor, night optic with an old worn Winchester M92 in .44-40 cowboy action ammo. Of course it's Hollywood fantasy but I suspect those old lever-action and wheel guns might just be better suited to the outdoor enviroment with their sturdy hands on actions. Love that movie!

I bought that same Ruger yesterday "1705" model and of course first thing i want to do is change a couple things ...Ordered the rubber grip off the ruger site with the wood inserts for $44.95 then two days later ruger slashed the price to 19.95 , that slap in the face actually hurt for hours .....Then i wanted to change out the plain black blade front site . When i looked online and saw all you had to do to change the front sight was push in on a spring loaded pin to release the old site i was 100% impressed .

I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the lock on a Smith & Wesson revolver. Other than someone does not like it, as I don't, so what you do is......JUST IGNORE IT, and it works just fine.

Ruger is a fantastic firearm and I'll tell you this, when you say that 749 is a rediculous high price, take a look at the Colt or Smith and Wesson, for their revolvers in the same style and class you will be looking at around 1500 dollars for their revolvers. I have several revolvers by Ruger and I believe truly that they are just as fine and accurate as the other brands and in some cases even better

10/63 all day! Resined plywood is the original, way tougher, military grade furniture and the rest is NOS service rifles (forged bolt groups, chromed barrels, etc.) that were reworked by CUGR for US compliance. Say NO to dimples!

The takedown pin bore in most AR-15 upper receivers is a machined slot measuring approximately .250" X .265". The slot allows uppers to be swapped. Nice pin however I use a National Match Shim which costs much less, uses the original takedown pin and also tightens receivers rock solid. Tighten receivers anyway you can just don't shoot loose.
