If you look at it like "I can't wait to love reading" it's never going to happen. You start to like/love things by becoming good at them, whether it's being consistent in them, comprehending a lot, learning a lot, and being able to apply information. Don't worry about liking it, because the more you do it the more you'll start to like it (As long as you don't drive yourself into the ground)

P good vid just wanna throw some thoughts out here. It's great to have the drive to want to learn but the process of reading is that it's a skill with a very high ceiling. Knowing the information is great but when you're reading something and having a tough time you're actively developing neuron connections which is literally making you smarter as well. Reading is a form of processing information, the better you are at reading, the more efficiently your mind functions. Reading is especially important if you want to go to college too.

Just because you made a mistake does not mean you should fear monger people away from using mixed grip. It's totally safe to use on deadlifts/RDLs. Nobody actually tears their biceps deadlifting with mixed grip unless they're on gear or ego lifting (often both).

idea: Dont fear monger people if you dont know how to train. If you train mixed grip and slowly overload it you will be fine. if youre dumb enough to try it for the first time with some weight youre not used to doing with that grip of course you can get injured.

@heavymetal1ization3 ай бұрын
@@BrandonMaloneyGuide I mean... Are you not inviting discussion by making this video? It's totally fine to use a mixed grip, many high level powerlifters use a mixed grip. And why would you sandbag your gains by stubbornly refusing straps when it would be more productive to use straps and supplement with dedicated forearm and grip training. Also, I won't say a 365 deadlift isn't impressive, but it's hardly a credential. 5:08 is called hitching btw.
@BrandonMaloneyGuide3 ай бұрын
Me refusing straps is 100% an ego thing. I'm not gunna lie about that lmao I'm just saying it's better to use straps then risk it. I understand that powerlifters do it, it's there best option when straps aren't allowed in competition, but you also see some of them get bicep tears lmao. This video isn't to convince anyone to not do it, it's purpose is to just share my experience. (Also thanks for telling me it's called hitching, I felt stupid saying the wrong thing lmao)

That's a good idea, my dumbbells aren't really heavy enough for me to do anything less than 45 seconds, but I can also do some dead hangs or something to try and improve my grip. You gave me something to think about, I appreciate it 🙏
3 ай бұрын
Another easy option is to simply hang the bar on for some seconds in the end of deadlifts or whatever exercises the barbell is heavy enough. Not to the point of hurting the next set, but enough to stimulate the forearms.

Hey, loved the video. I'd like to ask for your opinion on partial pull ups, there has been some studies proving that if you only do the part of the lift where your muscles are being stretched (long length partials), you can gain the same amount of muscle and even a bit better growth (although I suspect that can increase the probability of injury in heavy compound exercises such as bench press and squat, since the stretched position is also the one where your muscles and tendons are the most vulnerable). So, let's suppose that's true, if a person can barely do a pull up, is training partial reps, only going until your arm is parallel to the ground instead of chin above the bar, a good option? Since the person could abviously do more pull ups this way? They could even mix some specific strength work in as well, so do a "heavy" single of one rep, and then do back-off sets with long-length partials. If you want more information about long-length partials I'd highly suggest checking out Jeff Nippard's video about it. This discovery has been getting attention mainly on bodybuilding circles, but IMO it can benefit everybody really, even just people that want to do more pull-ups. I would also like to include the info that I tried this approach myself and got some good gains. I started training like 2 years ago but always had difficulty progressing on lat pulldown machines in comercial gyms, so I decided to try pull ups and got only 2 miserable reps, so I started implementing this strategy. I would do 3 max rep sets of pull ups, so I was gaining the neurological adaptations of lifting in the 1-4 rep range, plus long-length partial sets, where I would get around 6 reps (makes sense, cut half the range of motion, get double the reps) and a bit more hypertrophy. And that actually worked really well! It's been about a month and I got my first 5 reps on the lift, and can (as expected) do double that amount of partials, but I cut them out of the program since my actual pull ups already are my "volume work" now, so from them I should just keep hammering intensity, specificity and consistency to further see progress. Thank you for the video and the information, loved this presentation style and wish future similar videos from you! Much success to you friend.
@BrandonMaloneyGuide3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words! This some problems with this (In my opinion): You can't put as much tension on a muscle with the concentric portion of the lift (I can use big words with you hehe). You can lower MUCH more weight than you can lift, especially in your upper body. If you just work on the eccentric portion of the lift then you can always use a full range of motion, and get more out of the movement. It's less fatiguing, for some people a pull up is there 0, 1, 2 rep max. Imagine doing your 1-2 rep max for like 8 sets (which volume is key here), you'd be going "Holy shit did I work out or get hit by a train, and I'm still on the painkillers?!?". It's harder to track just going up partially, because you can think you go up 90 degrees but you really just flared your elbows and it looked that way to you, and next session you do the "same" form but something got screwed up and now it's different. The long lengthen partials approach works yes, but if you want to get better at full ROM pull ups, do full ROM pull ups lol. (Also final sidenote but most beginners are going to get the same hypertrophy gains from full rom vs long lengthened reps just because of how much of a "WHAT THE FUUUU" training is to their bodies for the first time)

Why the Zercher squat? Cuz I don't want no heavy ass bar on my back- In all seriousness, the Zercher Squat is an amazing exercise for strengthening your lower back. Your lower back stabilizes your body, and prevents you from flopping over like a gym bro who wears a belt for biceps curls 😂😂 Is the Zercher Squat optimal for leg hypertrophy? Absolutely not (lol). There isn't a large range of motion, and the bar hurts like hell when it's in your elbow crease, so you can't push your legs to their true limit. But is it good enough if you want a healthy low back, with big enough legs so you can do your calisthenic skills without some bodybuilder saying your legs are small? Absolutely. Continue to progressively overload, and you'll be seeing results in no time. Cheers, Brandon 🗿
