The reason the title of the other videos are VIRGIN ISLANDS tart is to distinguish the recipes! None if the videos claim that the VI has the original or exclusive tart. 🇻🇮🇻🇬🇻🇮🇻🇬However, there is a taste difference. No need to be so sensitive or offended. You did the right thing by Creating your own video. 👍🏾 Every Caribbean island has their own nuances. Glad you could showcase yours. 😊

Don't you think the individual who said "Virgin Islands Coconut Tart" knew it's a Caribbean thing. I'm pretty sure the single it that way so that people abroad who are from the Virgin Islands that want to learn can click on the video. That was very ignorant of you

The woman was just talking about the way that they make their virgin island coconut tart. The woman knows that everybody might make their coconut tart a little different than other people.

I was just coming to say this. It might be something every island makes but, each has a unique way of making it.😅

Does the dough and filling have to be room temperature when it’s time to be baked? What temperature And how long does it stay in the oven?

I love bake johnny cake I am from Statia. The last time I ate it was at a family gathering. They even had pumpkin baked Johnny cakes it was good. Even better because it was baked in a stone oven.
@arlenaf.35033 жыл бұрын
Oh wow. I can only imagine. I have had fried Pumpkin Johnny cakes, bit not baked. I am going to have to try that now. We have a place in St Maarten where they bake them old time style on coal no oven. That place makes money hand over fist. When I'm home I normally stop by and grab some. Nothing like a GOOD BAKED Johnny Cake. Thanks for sharing. Be blessed.

@@arlenaf.3503thanks for your quick reply which part of sxm do they sell johnny cakes on coal. 😋
@arlenaf.35033 жыл бұрын
They sell johnny cakes all over SXM. But this place that I am talking about that bakes them on coals is Cornie's Beach Bar on thd Boardwalk. Janice the Lady that works there does an amazing job. Also, CeeGees in French Quater and can't forget Yvette's Restaurant as well as the Sky is the Limit in Grand Case. Onlh to name a few. Better yet, get one of the old heafs back home to make ypu some, you're set and ready to go.

True. Our Saltfish back in the Caribbean is very Salted. So we have to do the boil 2x, especially if it wasn't soaked overnight.

@@arlenaf.3503 ah ok I just got some super salty looking saltfish I’ll see how it is, got some tilapia filets n salt to Make my own cause that shipping is crazy expensive
@arlenaf.35033 жыл бұрын
@@Gearsturfs I get mine from Walmart. It's not like ours back in the Caribbean. However it is better than nothing. They do not require overnight soaking or a double boil. Enjoy your fish. Take care. Enjoy the rest of your day.
