Notes for myself ❤ 31:40 2" sash x block size. Sew at 1/2"

I am looking to make a crossword quilt, and this looks so much easier than embroidery.

EQ8 has lots of features. The one most helpful to me is color/fabric/value swapping that allows you to see unanticipated results before you commit to them. Deb Tucker makes a Diamond Rec's ruler that delivers perfect results. I prefer paper piecing square in squares as you demonstrate. My machine has a starting and stopping sequence that secures the beginning and the end and importantly cuts the thread. It's useful when sewing many of these blocks. Also, a hot hemmer is also a wondrous paper folding tool...much thinner than the AAQ ruler.

how wide do you cut the sashing to join the blocks? one inch seems a little narrow?
@QuiltingWithNancy5 күн бұрын
Hi Sherry, that all depends, are you using the Block by Block by Beth Donaldson like I show in the video?

Hi, I am in Australia, I am 73 yrs ole & have been quilting since I was 23. I watched this video half a dozen times & then tried it. Sooo excited because when you edge stitch the strips it is perfectly positioned on the other side. Thankyou so much p, I have struggled with getting them to match for years.

I'm year late, but I loved what you made. I made a log cabin lap quilt 9 years ago. And I'm picking it up again. I'm 71 years old and I'm doing this again. I'm a crocheter and having trouble with my hands so I'm sewing.

Thanks so much for this video. I’ve watched it several times, and I’m almost done with my first pixel project. I did cut my pieces 1/8” smaller, and it was very helpful. I’m considering doing another one and marking the grid 1 & 5/8” so I can use my strip cutter and to cut 1 & 1/2” squares. My question is-has anyone tried using clean newsprint paper instead of interfacing? Do you think it would work? Or do you think it would fall apart?
@QuiltingWithNancyАй бұрын
I think the thing that makes the interfacing works is that it is fusible so you can iron all your pieces and sew rows and columns. Good Luck!!

What if you tried a second clean brayer to roll over the fabric while picking up the paint?

Morning, just discovered your video. Thank you I am extremely new to quilting. My question made candle wicked squares years ago. now, I would like to join with quilting. My problem is that squares are too small, about 25cm to make the size quilt would like to make. I have 16 square candlewick. 16plain. The joining strip , how wide could one use to make bigger . Using one plain square and one candle wick . From SA
