Yeah, I just let the clients choose the name of my build, their theme name is as good as any, unless it is one of those "I have ideas" builds of some childhood memory homes, in which they naively think that I am doing it for them. But is that such a good idea? How do I know that Big Brother government or Big Corporation is not looking over my shoulder, wondering what I might call some place that I lived in 50 years ago, like it is any of their business? How do we know that they do not put back doors into video games, so that Big Corporation can sell my data to Big Brother government so that nosy government can know who is putting pro-Trump messages onto their islands? But why is it a struggle to fit an entire home into a 10x10 square? Leaving the upstairs for a future roommate that I might someday get around to adding? I need obviously a bathroom, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a living room, and often something gets a bit squeezed. When I built Rod the mouse's or rat's, whichever that he is?, HHP home, I built everything on the one floor, he seemed to be one of those large family types that just accepts all the children that God gives, yet he feels entitled to a nice walk-in closet and their own bathroom off of the master bedroom. So then I had to squeeze in another bathroom for all the children. So then all the children are dumped into one bedroom with a row of bunk-beds lining both the walls. By the time I squeezed in a living room, it was just a couch almost squished against the wall where the 50-inch wall-mounted TV was. Earlier Kitt got a much nicer large-family build. 2 kitchen tables pushed together, with 2 rows of 4 comfy den chairs. Almost like some ritzy executive's conference room. Boys' and girls' bedrooms upstairs, only 3 beds each counting a Bunk-bed, with their own bedroom bathrooms. And a few extra closets upstairs for storage. I guess Kitt will not be getting a roommate, because she already has a full house. plus a baby crib in her bedroom downstairs, and a toddler in her kangeroo pouch, she apparently already has at least 6 or 8 children. Yet when I built the man-cave game room of my time as a volunteer in Israel, it turned out nicely. 3 "bedroom" areas, 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette, several couches (living room?), pool table, ping-pong table, and even a clothes drying rack. I do admit though, that I had to squish one of the bathrooms. Meaning no room to actually walk into it. That all was upstairs, even though it was in the basement. Downstairs was my first Israel trip hostel room. So what have I learned from ACNH + HHP? I just need to go buy a pool table and a ping pong table, and then that should help de-clutter my home. By the power of video game magic. And if I can just get the room editor to come up, I could just push out all the walls in each room of my home, to the full 10x10 which ought to make each room around 25 or 30 feet across. Even my HHP build of my actual home, turned out cluttered up with boxes and stuff. Maybe authenticity is not always such a good thing? So however did the "man-cave" in Israel turn out so nicely? But I did leave out the clothes washer and dryer, as those for our man-cave game room, were actually in an outlying area.

I love how ACNH syncs the game time and the seasons with the real outside world. That clocks in the game, show the actual time. But why didn't that carry over better to HHP? So I used a logical basis for the seasons of my vacation homes, and also childhood memory homes built as vacation homes. When I was up north, frigid winter, like the never-ending winter in the land of Narnia under the spell of the evil witch in C.S. Lewis's story "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe". Themed vacation homes for villages, obviously Fall/Autumn, the actual season it was outside. For when I was in Israel, Spring, since that was pretty much the season then. White winter islands on the HHP map, winter. The time of day was the time at the start of my build. But if I could have the option of syncing my HHP islands to the real world, time-wise and season-wise, I might do that. Any chance for a software update? So what planet does SoS occur on, in which days only last for 20 or 30 minutes, and years only have but 4 months? BTW, that cow looks more like an inflatable blimp than a cow. I think that SoS allows one to get married? Will we see that in an upcoming episode? Why don't more video games offer system clock time-syncing? I am sure it is quite an easy thing program-wise to do.
@RebCG3 күн бұрын
@yosefmacgruber1920 Not sure why SoS has the time and seasons that it does. Different farming games each do it somewhat differently. Yes, my character can get married in SoS so I'll work towards that eventually.
@yosefmacgruber19203 күн бұрын
@@RebCG Real-time is a generic idea that it should not be possible to patent. More video games should do that, well unless one of those one-day event adventures that does not even have a specific time or date. Why are there so many farming simulators? That sounds like work. You can not eat pretend video game garden food. And why am I still growing and harvesting crops in ACNH? Whatever am I supposed to do with 29 million bells? Too many designer island creators time-travel. In the next AC, they should provide an in-game tweak for that, without having to mess with the system clock. I rarely time-travel. I figure that "patience is a virtue". Besides, AC was not meant to be won in a day. But since I have all 8 human characters, I have sometimes went around the 5 item limit per day, by having another human order yet another 5 items and gifting them to my main player.

@Princess_of_Pineapples Yes, it took a bit of time to properly place the sewing machine, but I wanted to add it to the build! The nordic chairs do kind of look like waiting room chairs now that you mention it. 😆
@yosefmacgruber19205 күн бұрын
I tend to use the Den Chairs a lot, because they look really comfortable. And they come in several nice colors and look like soft leather. I rather dislike chairs that do not do anything. What is the point of that? Chairs that do not swivel, rock, nor roll around. A chair should be comfortable and have back and head support. Thus the Den Chair is better than the Modern Office Chair. But when I do a childhood memory build, I go for authenticity, try to match my memory the best that I can. I recently built a couple of places that I stayed at when I was in Israel. A hostel and a guest house where I served as a volunteer. I thought maybe a couple of Reception Chairs, but it didn't seem to have the right color of black, and so I think I used the plastic Garden chairs, which do have a customization in black. Yeah, chairs that do not do anything, but I had a few photos and a video to compare to, and they showed that black do-nothing chairs is what I needed. I think it turned out fairly well, sure helps bring back those memories. My max-size Hospital waiting room in HHP, has some really comfortable seating, couches and Den chairs. I used the Robot Arm in the doctor's room, for performing surgery. Yeah, I know I need a smaller medical robot, but I have to take what I can get. At last I do not have any dummy admitted to serve as a patient. Nobody gets but minor sick in ACNH.

I am thinking to do one more "childhood memory build", of my time as a tourist, and volunteer, in Israel. First I will need to check if I took any relevant photos to help me to remember. Strangely, I may have to use the Cosmo Shower, because my bathroom in the "man-cave" did not have a bathtub, nor were there "shower walls" like in the Shower Booth. Just a tiny tile barrier, maybe an inch high at most, to keep the shower water in its corner of the bathroom, and maybe a shower curtain. Funny how such builds look a bit like a cartoon, yet evoke such memories almost like being there again. Oh wait, there is that Shower Set, but that only mounts on (exterior) walls. Hmm, was it an interior wall? However are we supposed to do the too-quickly-vanishing communal shower rooms of Boy Scout Summer camp, or at the YMCA? No Bradley poles to be found, yet didn't I see those in one of the _Half-Life_ mods? A room full of silly Cosmo Showers? Yet at least there are urinals (Standing Toilet) and Squat Toilets. Whatever would I do with a Squat Toilet? Are those for the animal villagers? well they think they are human, so let them just be human. I had postpone my Israel trips build, due to only wanting to do 1 outside lawn, but maybe 3 different locations, but I can only have a max of 2 floors. I will probably then settle for just the 2. Of course it will have to be the full 10x10 rooms to make everything fit.
@RebCG12 күн бұрын
@@yosefmacgruber1920 Sounds like an interesting idea for a build.
@yosefmacgruber192012 күн бұрын
@@RebCG I have started that build now, but only did the outside lawn so far. Several of those A-something Gazebos, to represent the other guest house and volunteer house, that were separate from the room I stayed in as a tourist. Being a hostel, it had bunks for 9 people, but I was the only one in there, as it was off-peak, and they did not require me to rent a little private room in order to be alone. When the big tour bus came, they put them in a different big bunk room. The first time that I used the Stair Dresser outdoors, as it seems to represent the stairs well. I only put in one tree, as that is all that I remember in that limited area, the tree that I the next year when I came back to there but as a volunteer and staying in the volunteer house with a Russian Jew who could speak no English as my roommate, I picked up the flower blossoms off the patio surface every morning, as I felt like I had to find stuff to do else they would find me less desirable projects. They sent me to clean an old lady's new apartment/condo for about a week. They drove me there, they said that they would pay my bus fare. I said no need, I know where I am, only about a half-hour's walk each way, actually it was about 40 minutes, certainly doable. I had to wear my sun-protection hat, and carry a water bottle, to make it in that heat. Given that hat at another guest house that accepted me as a volunteer, before transferring me back to Haifa, the hostel there, where I had been just a tourist the year before. It was actually kinda fun, glad to be useful. I had to use the plain old boring tree, as apparently I haven't done enough vacation houses to have gotten one with the cherry blossoms on the Order tab? That tree would seem a better match. I don't recall it dropping apples, or cherries, or oranges onto the ground. It definitely was not a money tree. I had to go look at my old Israel photos for my build, but haven't even gotten to the interior part yet. That is where I actually have a few relevant photos. Brings back some memories. At least those photos are digital which I can also view on my TV. I likely never would have gone to Israel, had I not been thinking seriously about leaving the has-been corrupt over-taxed Democrat-ruined USA, but now I think that I should go to Latin America, after the entire world went nuts during the plan-demic. But I think spending months in Israel did me good. I was in-between jobs anyway, so good time to get away.

How do I get all those extra Variety tabs? I still have only my basic set of 20 or so patterns, even though I have done 60+ HHP vacation house builds. If I need 100 or something please tell me, because I don't know if I will ever do that many. Most of my tiny islands are already occupied, so maybe it is time to add roommates that likely will not credit me for more builds. I am not trying to overload my islands except for my childhood memory builds that are all on the same flat boring land plot. Cliffs and bridges would much subtract from the authenticity of those builds. And how can I add snowmen to the lawn? When I was growing up, children built snowmen. Now we get a little snow, and all the children are inside where it is warm playing video games? Oh wait, maybe they are building *snowmen in video games* where I can not see outside the beauty of snow-people?
@RebCG16 күн бұрын
@@yosefmacgruber1920 Press the right stick to get the variety tabs. The three-tiered snowperson is a DIY item you can build with snowflakes and tree branches. I wonder how many video games have snowmen that the player can build.
@yosefmacgruber192016 күн бұрын
@@RebCG The tabs are not available. I do not have all those dots at the top. No indication that they are there. It only gives me the one. I must not have that snowman recipe yet, but I seem to be getting the knack of building "perfect" snowmen and have around 10 large snowflakes. Well we know of at least one video game. So finally it will be possible to have a snowman that does not melt in a few days? How many video games let you catch a snowflake and keep it in your pockets or storage, and it does not melt in the summer? How many video games let you build a Rubik's cube out of an umbrella?
@yosefmacgruber192010 күн бұрын
@@RebCG Nothing works to get the variety tabs. I am afraid that maybe I have to do 100 vacation homes, at the current rate, that might take 20 years. I finally got the 3-tiered snowperson, but sadly it was not my strongest character who got it, and only my strongest character has unlocked anything at HHP. So kinda useless for HHP vacation house builds. And my character who did somehow get the recipe, can not transfer or share the recipe. Not like an unlearned recipe card that can be dropped on another character's patio. That character has none of the Large Snowflakes, as I do not have enough to share among all 8 human characters, likewise with the 28 gold nuggets, that still seem to be quite rare. However, that probably means that my strongest character will have all the frozen recipes soon. How many are there? How many that require a Large Snowflake? Yet another month of frigid winter so maybe another dozen+ snow-people to be built. Maybe 2 of them might be "perfect"? Well anyway my last snow-boy was perfect. If my island needed a 3-tiered snow-person, then I would simply give #4 just 1 Large Snowflake, but I have not even figured out yet where would I want a non-melting snow-person during summer? Maybe at one of my few HHP winter vacation homes? Whenever any of my characters gets anything too rare, they drop it onto the patio of my strongest player, #1, so that I do not have to try to remember who has what. I have finally started sharing pearls with my #2 character, well since #1 has so many now.

@@RebCG Well I do not have Nintendo Online, and I have actual chores that I ought to be doing, not too much playing video games all day, so I have to rely on you all to do videos of your dream island visits. Well at least I finally paid for HHP, but I have not been doing a whole lot there, as most of my little islands area already filled up. I still have 2nd floors awaiting roommates to be added, but I am feeling kinda burned out, not trying to rush it anymore. Yesterday I finally got around to creating my Rubik's Cube umbrella, it came out pretty good. Quite the challenge trying to distort straight lines, even among diagonals, to compensate for the weird curvature of the umbrella. I thought about why didn't I do a 2x2x2 cube, or maybe a 4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge cube? Or the supposedly-impossible 7x7x7 cube, that actually is a bit spherical, due to complexities of making the invention actually work. Well the standard cube probably is best, as there are only but so many pixels to play with, and often small objects in video games are supposed to be "icon-ized", made ridiculously simple metaphors for the object being represented, because too much complexity makes it hard to recognize what it even is supposed to be. I decided to do a "mostly solved" cube, because few cubes are actually solved, and by having just a couple of turns away from being solved, I could then show all 6 colors, it avoids being too simple, and I could conveniently avoid the mathematical puzzle of detecting if the cube actually is impossible to solve. As if somebody took off stickers and put them back on but in the wrong places. I have yet to see anybody having done a Rubik's cube in ACNH. Have you seen one? BTW, it makes for a very colorful actual-umbrella, but my characters generally do not bother carrying umbrellas.

ACNH does storms so much better. I hear that "angry" howling wind, yet those are some sturdy trees, as they are not swaying at all? I know, it is not easy to properly animate a video game. If I lived in that fictional world, I might be inclined to be superstitious, as that storm sounds "angry". I think that I will never get used to those 30-minute "days". But at least SoS does not interrupt you in the middle of every project with a pesky treasure floating balloon. Only to get a few nearly-worthless iron nuggets. And not something new to add to my catalog.

@yosefmacgruber1920 I prefer the storms in ACNH too.
@yosefmacgruber192024 күн бұрын
@@RebCG I prefer no rain, no storms, no awful weather at all. No frigid snow. I should move to somewhere where I never have to see snow. However, if there must be bad weather, better on my island than in real life. No fear that the roof will leak, and it does not even make me get out an umbrella. Of course if the island was real, it would be underwater at every storm surge or high tide. No wonder Tom got such a deal on the island? SoS looks like it is "trying too hard". ACNH storms seem so much more natural. I thought that SoS might be an alternate cozy game to ACNH, with bigger brighter buildings, but its severe lack of customization leave me disappointed. I guess there is no game like ACNH? I wonder how in ACNH they put all that snow on the ground? Do they have alternate 3-D models for every rooftop and bridge and fence? That would be a lot of extra programming work, unless it is just an added snow layer? And then so many of roofs that have to have optional snow, have different shapes. It is a wonder that the Mario Pipe actually can transport to inside of a house. Because the "house" level is not loaded when you are outside. So the game could have said, "I do not see a 2nd Pipe." Some programmer must have thought to keep track of which house "levels" have a Pipe inside, so that it would work and load the correct level. As I have dabbled in programming, I notice some small details that so many people miss. In the PS2 video game _ICO_ I thought I would be clever and "cheat", well that was after playing through and winning the game actually. There is an area where you first go through the top of the cave, then later through the bottom, both areas visible, but only your level reachable. So I jumped off of the path edge down to the water way below. Falling into water, not a fatal fall, good so far. Then I soon found, that the switch that I had to activate, there was no way to reach it. Found a pipe to climb back up. But later when I was down below, I tried climbing that same pipe, and the pipe collapsed and tossed me back into the water. Aha! Those programmers are so smart. They already thought of my little trick, and successfully blocked it. Which would be better than the trick working, then the game glitching or crashing, making the programmers seem not quite so smart. And on any of the YT play-throughs that I have watched, I am not aware of anybody discovering that little easter-egg or trick. In fact, most players seem unaware that often you do not have to fight the shadow creatures. If Yorda can reach the idol gate, which only she has the magical power to open, lightning bursts of energy fly out and fry whatever shadow creatures that may still remain. What a nice short-cut, and yet hardly anybody seems aware of it? Much easier to lead her to the idol gate, many times, than to waste time fighting the creatures.
