Just got into this stuff, the R thing seams Imposible. Thanks

I think some people have trouble making that sound. It's just like rolling your r in Spanish if that helps.

so cool to be able to compare the different woods side by side like that. I like the eastern red cedar. I learned recently that Its not technically a true cedar, its in the juniper family.
@StellarFlutes5 күн бұрын
I didn't know that! So cool! I've never actually seen the trees, only the wood. I have made a few juniper flutes and they are very colorful and beautiful, but it is so hard to come across a piece big enough for flutes.
@KaizenSteelDrums5 күн бұрын
@@StellarFlutes There's tons of juniper around bend,or. There's a few folks with portable sawmills that mill it. Kind of a long drive for you though. Loads of dead bone dry lodgepole pine and juniper free for the taking minus an $8 firewood cutting permit from the forest service office. Endless free wood for flutes wink wink. A lot more work though but fun and rewarding. Loving you 🥰

Interesting how different the voice is with different woods , the last one is awesome!
@StellarFlutes5 күн бұрын
I love that one as well! Yeah! Each flute also has its own voice, so two in the same wood will occasionally sound different as well.

I know exactly where you got the wood. It's a lot brighter than local woods, maybe a bit on the sharp side of bright.
@StellarFlutes5 күн бұрын
Do you? I think Obee gave it to us , he's our salvaged wood guy here in Washington state, but we had it so long i can't remember and it could have been another friend. I am pretty sure it is apitong after researching. It is definitely a tropical hardwood.

I am an average sized american. Correct, I am not Indian, and I am also not Indigenous American if that is what you were attempting to imply. Did you feel that I was claiming to be Native American by playing a Native American style flute? Is the implication that only Native people can play Native American flutes?

I am enjoying finishing the flute. Unfortunately I made the mistake of rounding a little too much and the block doesn't sit flat. Anything I can do to fix that?
@StellarFlutes14 күн бұрын
Oops! That is an easy mistake to make. Assuming you rounded the flute and not the block, here is how to fix it. Take a piece of 220 grit sandpaper and a perfectly flat surface. You can use a counter top, cutting board, or something else that is perfectly flat and place the sandpaper face up on that. Hold the sandpaper with one hand and stroke the deck of the flute back and forth with the grain until the deck is flat again. Check the deck often to make sure you aren't lengthening the fipple hole too much. You may only need to do a few strokes.The block just needs enough flat area to create a seal around the edges. If that is intimidating you are also welcome to mail the flute back to me and i can fix it. there is no cost, only the shipping fees. - Lily

Do i have to glued to gether and drill the holes or is it all ready glued with holes in it and the only thing I have to do is shape and decoration it
@StellarFlutes16 күн бұрын
We do make a kit that needs to be glued and drilled, but the kits in this video just need to be shaped and varnished. They are fully playable, square flutes.
