Yes there is redfin in the lake it is also stocked with trout as you said next time you should bring a rod you are aloud to have two fishing rods with two hooks there is white bait in the lake. You can net for the but a bit hard on your own

The good old beet.. when i was a young lad of 8 years old the water was as clear as. The reddies were on the boil. Iv camped ever spot around the lake.love the place

Funny I auto confuse this with lake Purrumbete which is also a place I would like to check out sometime. What do they charge at Burrumbeet or is it a free camping spot?

@@petecabrina yes it’s a free camp and really worth the trip. I’ve had a few comments saying it is very busy over the summer which wouldn’t surprise me. It’s a beautiful spot.

If you haven’t been to Cork Oaks Campground (near Clunes) or Kendalls (near Alexandra) they’re both good. Especially Kendalls with the river. 2WD accessible. We were in that same spot about 4 weeks ago 3 4x4 with good lift 2"+ 1 of which is a paj the same as yours we couldn't get up there either we revesed the track to just to the other side of that water bog hole and turned them there it was a hell of another wetter when we were there though

I always tell people to make their own choice. I’ve been up steeper tracks than that. But with the way it was chopped up, the camber, and the AT’s rather than muddies, I felt better turning around. And I’m still happy with the decision. I love that you did it on a commodore though. I used to go bush bashing in the Wombat Forest with my HK about thirty years ago. It was a lot of fun. Yeah the rear diff lock is standard. But we were hung up at the rear and the right side. Diff locks no good if the weight isn’t on the wheels. We still had a good time though. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍😄

@@CampAndDriveAustralia I think what made it a lot more work was you were the one with 4wd experience and your mate couldn't communicate and spot you, so you had to get out and check yourself, re arrange the maxtracks etc. Perhaps if they are regular company be worth getting him on a 4wd and recovery course? The other thing is, when bogged, Maxtracks are disposable and don't worry about breaking them. If the expense concerns you then you should buy the $80 ebay ones, work just as well just not as durable, but I've never personally used mine

Ok so you went bush, you have worked hard and you are lucky it was not peeing down, good on you for identifying some short falls on the equipment you should carry every time you head out, including food and water so you can camp if really stuck. You will remember this as a “that time when” a story you can tell around the camp fire , everyone has one , all the best .

Easiest gracks near melbourne id say are around lederderg/wombat and king lake. The more hectic stuff i drive is toolangi and mt dissa for sure

I guess you’re talking about the Stones t shirt. That was from Target I think. The Queen t shirt in the middle of the video was from a Queen concert in Melbourne when they had Adam Lambert singing. For the record, I saw Queen with Freddy Mercury back in the mid 80’s. It was awesome.

We did launders track last week in stock 2006 navarah . Best way find good tracks is just turn and take a chance . Take a good map from Aussie desspossals and use when your lost

Yeah we had a gps map and headed to a few tracks on that but kept coming to closed tracks. We only ended up finding that one good bit that day. But it’s all fun in the end. Maybe we’ll check out Launders Tk next time. Do you recommend it?

It’s only 1.5kms of 4WD track if you come from O’Briens Rd. Easy but steep drive in with a dry track and a 4x4. But it could be a very different story in the wet.

When I went there it was absolutely chockas, beautiful spot but overcrowded and not enough campspots, they took O'Briens Crossing away from some reason. I've been watching your vids all weekend and you got a sub from me. I noticed you haven't got that lift as yet, maybe if you spent less on lighting you could've got it by now! :p

@@bazza2540 lol yeah you’re right. We haven’t got the lift and it’s an absolute necessity if we’re going to keep hitting tracks like that. I’ve been advised I can only get a 40mil lift if I want to keep it legal (and I do) and go up one size for the tyres. Muddies when that happens. Thanks for subbing. We really enjoy making the videos so it good to know some people enjoy them too.👍😄 It’s a shame about O’Briens. I camped there regularly when I lived in the area. But it’s much more useable for a day trip now.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. The king parrots were obviously used to getting a feed from campers. I tend not to feed the birds though. It didn’t stop them from coming to say hello. The Ron Swanson is a running joke between me and a mate. I’ve always denied it but now I guess I will have to tell him he’s right 😄. Just watched your Cotter River Vid which was great (liked and subscribed). So many people live in beautiful places and mistakenly believe it’s not camping if you can get home in less than an hour. Glad to see you’re not ignoring what you have close by.

Thanks for the video fellas. Have driven all those tracks recently and as you say, Hickeys Ck E track would've been okay to get you out onto Mt Margaret Tk. Looks like there'd been a good bit of rain by the look of those mud puddles along Ben Cruachan Ck. If you had gone down Hickey's Creek Tk to Licola Road it might have been a bit concerning if wet, with some steep and slippery descents near McMillan's Lookout. Agree that a lift would be useful for the Pajero and also a winch in that country if you're driving solo.

Glad you enjoyed the video. If you’re travelling on roads that appear on Google Maps you can actually save the maps you need when you’ve got a signal. But that won’t help you with remote tracks. For that you will need a 4WD specific GPS app. There are heaps to choose from. But you have to pay for the good stuff. There’s HEMA, Newtracs and a whole bunch of others. We use ExlpoOz Travleller and have found that really useful. Always take paper maps too if you can. Technology can and will fail.😄 Don’t forget to Like and Subscribe. 👍

No we don’t have a lift. The suspension is factory original. But we get a 2 inch lift in the future.

The camp is called Tanners Bend. There’s some more footage of it, and the road in, at the start of our previous video ‘4WD adventure in the Great Otway NP’. It has a couple of fire pits, tables and a toilet. Easy access off a dirt road. Really nice spot and very convenient access to tracks.
