if you've torn the bandage off . . . . I drank for two whole hours but couldn’t get a single word down I worried about my diminishing powers as a writer - I couldn’t think of a noun verb or adjective to rhyme with coward I knew the critics were waiting to pounce - The Japanese had already written about flowers so I sat there and didn’t make a sound waiting for the Milky Way to go sour copyright 2023 by adrian n. strickland

when you're broken open . . Erased for Proceeding With Caution....... In your hometown you weren’t even allowed to write your name in a freshly poured sidewalk and later they would claim it was your fault you were forgotten til one day your own memories tried to disown you, escaping like diesel exhaust “it wasn’t their loss” they claimed - they needed to explore other options so people called you flaky and nicknamed you Kellogs while you swallowed your pride like a lozenge and lost count of ways you could be rephrased by our new maze-epoch erased for proceeding with caution… Were you 100 years old, a frail child conceived out of wedlock or an early snowflake falling on a field of cotton? copyright 2023 by adrian n. strickland

when you're broken open . . some words written long ago in stone with a sharp edge no longer original enough for media coverage... the blood and sweat an ancestor put into the craft never refunded... time further out, a bit like Dave Bruh-beck... meanings lost in the space between fire's adolescence and OPEC..... Well, you told me you'd have to put off reinventing the wheel until the council gave you permission to burn the codex how people now don't want to distinguish between what's fake and real... meanings lost in the space between the first sundial and a rolex... as for those who will never be more visible than the seal which protects the present age from the last, no depth ever drowned any truth they'll decide to wield -they wouldn't know where to point a gun by the time it was loaded it isn't to their reason that you've made your appeal... their confusion is like a conversation between dollars and kopeks... so you ask me how I'll even know what to feel by the time you've been promoted copyright 2021 by adrian n. strickland .....hoping art is victorious over war..... .

if you've torn the bandage off . Narcissus, fist in mist burnt offering like brisket he makes to himself none of my goddamned business His Duracell dream lasts for ten years a minute but he won’t have time to ask for your forgiveness... TV stares at itself in your pint of Guinness- the screen at the bar where weight in the pub pivots... The folks who trust their keys to self-driving cars will cry when the state invents self-giving tickets….. . Narscissor, Narsimmer pious as a pilsner… Crissum of a cither takes aim, never hindered while strumming chords to Such a Night by the Drifters and offering to buy you the summer and winter… I tried to squeeze 1,000 words from my picture Narscissor, Narsimmer, Narcinder…….. copyright 2017 by Adrian N. Edward Hopper was painting a margin of error the modern American Dream’s object of concealment- a glass chess board and transparent wayfarers- the orphaned child of their consent- heir to our strategy of square-curves won’t learn to come to our defense a treeless island abandoned by rare birds and a playing field abandoned by common sense . The cover is blank on the latest issue of Vanity Fairer like a wide, flat expanse of cement forgetting a wide, flat expanse of verdure both strangers to all consequence copyright 2023 by adrian n. strickland

spontaneous. you know....carpe diem. hey, you may be too busy to visit Texas 😅 . . TEXAS POSTCARD 2 My beard is so big, when I tuck it in my shirt it looks like I have breasts I put it in braids. I'm skeered of razor blades. I was a spokesman at Beard Fest It don't make me look wise. My follicles are good and sturdy like them wire garbage ties I got no good advice. I don't look purdy and I ride a Harley motor bike My beard is so big, when I tuck it in my shirt it looks like I have breasts I put it in braids, bring it on my escapades and I lend it to my woman for a vest My head of hair is vast. Try to cut it, you would think you were mowing down your grass It don't make me look wise But when I'm out of dental floss, I got a back up supply My beard is so big, when I tuck it in my shirt it looks like I have breasts I put it in braids, I'm skeered of razor blades. I was the judge at a beard contest I like beards and beer the smell of gasoline and sometimes my hunting gear........ copyright 2013 by adrian n. strickland.

after jogging every morning, I turn on the news my new phone rings - a segment of some sonata for cello In an hour I'll have to face my little group with routine smiles and a tepid hello Ask me what besides money unifies the workers under that roof and I'll have to admit I don't know Ask us "What part of this life did you choose?" mayonnaise or mustard, the color of our jello......... If one thing leads to another, how can we refuse? Something vital was missing. Some were reluctant to say so but the writing on the wall was mine and I believed it was truth before I gave life permission to paint over the fresco so they say its fair for me to blame the mistake I'm making now on my youth: see me then, I gave up a beautiful manifesto copyright 2019 by Adrian N. Sounds cool.Maybe you can spread Marxism to the workers and tell them that the proletariat doesn't need money XD

😂😂😂 A plane with a gas leak flies over a rainbow she sets that “sign” on fire and she’s got the halo she always wanted - What she needs to feed her ego is too big for her stomach. She tells the birds to relo- CATE. . . . the future is sky-real estate There’s a limit to what she’ll tolerate She’s so ahead of the game she called her conglomearly "Scholarly Barbies of Eminent Domain" That drone is carrying a sign that says “private property” I'm the late worm who would not co-operate She adds a no-fly zone to a game of Monopoly When dice don’t fall just right, she blames the FAA dreaming of the day when all men will be obsolete... copyright 2020 by adrian n. strickland
