Once you started the welcome to country I turned off! We just don't need it in this situation. And anyway you both are too young to give advise to 65+ people.

Just draw out the whole $650,00 at 65 and spend down to your Centrelink assets limit and claim a pension, its so simple but everyone makes it really complicated! Super is for spending not reinvesting or putting into Annuities! $650,000 gives you $2000 per week tax free for 6 years, So by the time you are 67 as a couple you will get full pension and benefits after just 2 years of drawing down $2000 per week and still have $450,000 in the bank!

Thankyou for continuing to acknowledge our traditional owners. Privileged white felllas like me who continue to benefit from colonisation should always remain humbly aware of the cost paid. To those complaining, maybe you should consider investing as much time in educating yourself as you spend disparaging something you don’t understand. Or just be quiet.

Retirement becomes truly rewarding when you have two key components: a solid financial foundation and a clear sense of purpose. Making wise investment decisions is crucial to achieving strong returns and enjoying a secure retirement.

Rising costs have impacted my original plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and grow my savings. I can't help but wonder if those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time compared to the challenges I’m currently facing. Market volatility, combined with a lower income, has me concerned about having enough for a comfortable retirement.

You’re absolutely correct-financial advisors have access to strategies and opportunities that aren’t always available to the general public. I earned £560k in 2022 with guidance from my fiduciary advisor. Am I cashing out? Definitely not. I’m taking a step back to watch how the market evolves.
@FrankJaaay12 күн бұрын
I’ve been considering that path myself. I have a significant stock portfolio, but some holdings are starting to decline in value. I'm unsure whether to hold onto them or sell, and I think hiring your advisor could help me effectively restructure my portfolio.

One issue that I thought needed to be touched on in this video is while you are redirecting the cash flow of the dividends into your mortgage liability, what is happening to the interest liability on the line of credit over time? Does this need to be repaid, and what impact would this have on your personal cash flow, or would the interest for the line of credit simply accumulate over time on the existing balance?..

One major problem with property is the lump sum capital gain and the CGT hit, whereas shares can be sold as parcels over multiple financial years to mitigate that burden. The longer the property is held the higher its value (awesome) but the higher the taxes that the lump sum CGT will incur.

Recognise this may not be a common or even popular topic, but would it be possible to do a segment on options available if breaching the superannuation total balance cap when in a defined benefit fund? I work with a number of long tenured public servants who, through no fault of their own, are facing potentially massive tax bills due to the way fund growth is calculated, concessional and non-concessional contributions, and the fairly recent (2017 I believe) introduction of the total balance cap. Great vids by the way. Thanks.

Why is your respect limited to First Nation people? If we are expressing our gratitude for those important elders of the past we should also thank the hard working men and women who endured great hardship to make this country great; the young people who strive to educate themselves to help us navigate future challenges; Americans soldiers for their sacrifice to defend our freedom. It’s a great habit to offer gratitude and respect to those who deserve it, so let’s get real.

Re funerals... a tip: you absolutely don't need to spend $15K for a funeral bond. $3-4K should be enough, per-person. Just put the money aside, write a note for the executor of your will. Save the money, do something better with it.
@ConsortiumPW2 ай бұрын
Agreed, a funeral will not cost most people $15,000 but it will be exempt from the Centrelink Assets test and increase the age pension by $780 for every $10,000 reduced making it a good deal. What is not used for the furneral is refunded. Thanks for your comment, Rob

Can I access my full super including preserved super with terminal illness?
@ConsortiumPW2 ай бұрын
Hello, here is the details from the ATO. You may be able to access your super if you have a terminal medical condition and all these conditions are met. All the best Rob -Two registered medical practitioners have certified, jointly or separately, that you suffer from an illness or injury that is likely to result in death within 24 months of the date of signing the certificate. -At least one of the registered medical practitioners is a specialist practising in an area related to your illness or injury. -The 24-month certification period has not ended.

Suggestion: change title of video to "How to retire on $650,000 AND YOUR OWN HOME as a couple in Australia". It's all about owning your own home. If you don't, you are going to have a very hard time retiring on 650K. Rent is going to take out most of that nest egg. IMO, this is going to cause major problems in Australia, as many more people will never be able to buy their own home.
@ConsortiumPW2 ай бұрын
Hmmm, like the suggestion for some other variations of the theme. I agree, home ownership should be a goal for everyone, that goal is now so difficult to achieve given the crazy house prices and debt levels needed to purchase a home. Thanks Rob
