It's edited out here, but Alexis Korner had a fair reply to the part where Stu said Brian was "incapable of writing music " Here's Alexis' reply: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4ampnafYq-JhZIsi=nAC9y5W2bbceVaVO

Stu's point of view on Brian might have been a little bit subjective too. It's hard to know what really happened but I feel that for someone like Andrew to take control of the band, he had to spark some degree of resentment towards the natural leader among the other members. It's quite typical whether in a takeover or in the merging of two groups or businesses. Divide and conquer.

Stu is being overly modest saying he was not a good piano player. He may have been one dimensional but he was excellent in that old time "boogie woogie" style piano.

Nah. I love them equally. They both hit differently on different occasions. The Beatles never got the chance to record a song like ‘Midnight Rambler,’ ‘Time Waits For No One,’ or ‘Jumping Jack Flash.’ Likewise, the Stones never got the chance to record masterpieces like ‘A Day In The Life’ or a ‘Let It Be’

@@sminking-ky9jc Or Helter Skelter, or I Want You (She’s So Heavy). And perfect albums like the thirty-track masterpiece The White Album. The Stones could never do what The Beatles did. Like John Lennon said in an interview they don’t come close in power and quality. It’s not subjective, just facts.

This song is actually so incredibly wrong these years! But then it was possible. We must also say that the Rolling Stones have always behaved properly and there is no one, no woman, who says that something happened against her will. They also used drugs that would destroy entire stables of horses. But there has never been anyone who could no longer cope, a concert that didn't go ahead, not starting a performance on time. Keith says about that; "its in the genes".

Brian was a difficult, self-destructive personality. It’s a tragedy the way he deteriorated and died at such a young age. But Stu’s assessment seems fair. Ronnie Wood has had no trouble fitting in these last 50-odd years.

I seen the Stones in 89 at Busch Stadium St Louis. I was wishing Chuck Berry would show up and do a couple tunes with them. He didn't ,but his Piano player-Johnny Johnson did. It was great, but I wish Chuck would have. Afterall he was from STL.
