@@Pieman29666 thank you for the concise feedback. Derek is chatty, I admit that. Every time I’m testing and he says “hi Dan” I cringe too.. but I also think “aww”. Derek is like a cat and wants attention 😀 I am 95% through his last update (although I am dreading the expectation) whereby you’ll meet his nemesis. Other than that, Derek was meant to be a fun alternative to in game companions and make you laugh once in a while. I sincerely hope that I’ve achieved that at least 😀

@@IAMPAUL2021 yeah, i had a funny thing happen even today. I was at the shop in new atlantis, stocking up on resources. I filled up derek and sams inventory and i was absolutely over encumbered myself by like a quarter ton with my pockets filled with uranium, iron and whatever else. So i decided to walk back to the lodge to drop it all off. So im struggling along the path, basically having a heart attack, sweating bullets and breaking my back dragging all this shit home. As i reach the door nearly dead, i took my hands away from the controls for a sec to grab a drink and i hear derek walking up to me n he goes like, hey dude, u mind carrying this this toast for me as well. Almost spit out my water...

@@jayzers9677 yes there is a small mission coming in the last update that unlocks his backstory and includes a secret location etc. If he’s talked about the professor and tells you interesting space facts, then he is at the point where he is ready for the next update.

@@EdNarrates Ed, mods are complicated things. You have to remember that when I initially began work upon Derek, we were all walking blind to the creation kits functions. In regards to your points, I agree. But at the time of creation I tried not to touch anything vanilla, and that includes the crew system or the player ship alias. Some mods do this of course, but in doing so, they become a victim of any modder who hacks those systems. I chose not to do that. Speaking about the player ship: Derek runs a script when the player changes location and it moves him 5 units near the player. If you enter a ship, he’ll hang by the entrance, but if you go straight to cockpit, he’ll be right next to you. (This said, he does have an AI package that makes him hold position if on the player ship. Maybe I’ll experiment with this) I tested this on the frontier, mantis and the ship you get from Freestar with no issues. Are you using custom ships? PS. Ed do more audiobooks 😀

@@IAMPAUL2021 Thanks. I'm still working. I understand where you are coming from and that's why I made no criticism of your mod. Personally, I think it's very good. I am still using it. I assume I have Ver. 2 since I got it only a couple of weeks ago, but it's not labeled on Creations. I have a very custom ship with a three seat (Pilot & two co-pilots,) one level cockpit which has plenty of room, jump seats and two rear seating area with a navigation table. Plenty of room for DEREK. Some companions stand off to the side but no one but DEREK stands in front. This is especially egregious when I teleport directly to the cockpit. As for my other comments I was just encouraging you to stay with and improve the mod. Please 🤪

@@EdNarrates haha. Thank you good sir. I am indeed still working upon him, I will defo play around with his wait on player ship function. However, right now V2.5 which makes him quest aware among other features, is sitting in QA and in the meantime I I have been creating his endgame location dungeon. Exciting fun awaits.

In Fallout the mechanic exists, the animations and functions etc. I don’t think it does in Starfield tbh. Although I haven’t played around with the commanded actor mode. The long and short of what I am saying here is, yes it could be done but it would require a lot script properties to find the door or pc that the player wants opening. That’s not as easy as many might think 🤔

Hi. Don’t worry about this. It is not entirely quest dependent. He should fire a scene in the Coe Museum, but this is merely to add meaning to his memory loss. Quest wise, this is locked out for the current version (Derec’s Memory) until I am ready to bring his story to a close. This will involve some level design and dungeons. Version 2 is now available (pc version says v1, but it is v2. Version 3 should be soon. This adds more quest aware dialogue and a remote control for Derec. After this, I’ll begin building the endgame 😀

It was an improvised line tbh. I didn’t feel quite comfortable with it, but it was what was recorded at the time. I have since (for next update) changed the line to mention Robin Scott playing a baseball computer game. On a side note: how much is a coffee in USA?
