Pretty close to a religious experience to drive around the Cabot Trail listening to Anne's timeless songs. She is and always will be a Canadian treasure who could never be equaled. Probably the best singer of popular music to come out of Canada. Anne in her prime was as great or greater than Celine fuggedaboutit lol. When the Canadian stars did their fund raising thing for the starving kids that countries were doing at that time, the greatest singers in the country all came in and contributed. The producers had the artists sing the whole song so they could choose what part whatever artist would get to sing. The producers said everyone's jaw hit the floor when Anne came in and sang it in one take, and the part they chose for the her part in the final cut was from her one and only take lol. All the other singers had to or wanted to do a better version for the final cut. But beyond her incredible talent, if you had parents from the east coast of Canada and grew up in the 1980s as I did, listening to see Anne talk in interviews was eerily like listening to one of your aunts or mother talk. You could tell as famous as she became, she never changed from the east coast girl she was growing up.

the raspiness is some vocal trouble she is having onstage in the moment (as a singer/stage performer i recognise the signs). But she overcomes it by 3:50 i think...can be a struggle to right the canoe.
