# segregation is still happening in our daily lifestyle Salomon lived in Sumter county, worked in different communities to try and unite everyone. Brake the boundaries that separate us, the lines that separate one neighbour from the other Recycling and dumping schedules Roads and infurstructures Zoning lines and codes that stop aid from one to another What do we think he would want us to work on? Inclusion and shared resources within South Carolina. The examples of positive programs that work within one county can be used to help those that struggle with the same issues Creation of jobs, beautification of cities, security and safety. Example yellow shirts, courtesy rides, bus transportation and trash can distribution to Fairfield county residenance ect come on now . Which year will they even get trash bins?

I knew that none of my concerns would be addressed. The state and county have both denied responsibility for the only school zone speed limit sign on Summit Parkway meant for Rice Creek elementary school with children as young as four walking to school daily. The sign has never worked since the beginning of year. There has also never been a crosswalk in place since the beginning of the school year because SCDOT during construction, covered the clearly marked and working one without providing temporary measures. I have reached out to TPAC Richland Penny, Overture Walker, Nikki Porter, sheriff Lott, ombudsman has supposedly placed a work order, and more entities that have a much louder voice than me. I have spoken with others as well. I had questions during the live stream that they claim to address before ending the meeting. No one has done anything to provide students that walk to Rice Creek elementary safe passing across hardscrabble Road, despite reaching out to all of these entities. This includes Bart McCarter from SCDOT who I spoke with on the phone and denied placement of a temporary crosswalk or any additional signage yet there is a huge sign boasting that SCDOT is in charge of this project. One could argue that this is a state project however Richland Penny does partially fund this project and since Summit Parkway has technically been under construction, there must’ve been some collaboration with the state and the county is equally responsible for the safety of our youngest community members and from my understanding have the ability to implement emergent action yet nothing’s been done. I’ve been ignored. The children were not considered at all in the planning of this project and I think we can all agree that there’s been plenty of time to plan for it. No action has been taken - simply emails and phone calls in an attempt to placate myself and the other enraged concerned parents. Bart McCarter, and Overture Walker sent me an email of an aerial image including a red line outlining where pedestrian should be advised to walk and in the same email said that it is not safe to cross at this time because apparently marking a $100-$300 temporary crosswalk is too much and they would rather rush the project. The following week the sidewalk was completely destroyed and following that, the road was closed forcing parents to drive through the Food Lion parking lot in order to get to the car riders drop off and pick up area. Without any crosswalk on the ground, we cannot utilize crossing guards or sheriff’s deputies like summit middle school does- they have both every day Sheriff Leon Lott replied to my email requesting assistance with traffic control saying simply they can’t assist at this time- so why does the middle school have help?. It cost approximately $100-$300.to place one. I’d pay for it! Never have I ever witnessed such negligence for such a long amount of time. Walk at your own risk to get a public education? Despicable.

To be honest, I’m not impressed. The administrator comes across as defensive and uncertain. Meanwhile, many of us have been out in the streets today, mobilizing meals, fielding calls, setting up drop-off locations, coordinating wellness checks, and working with partners. We've distributed thousands of texts and emails and received 1,642 calls from Richland County citizens so far. His tone and approach aren't helpful, and neither I nor our community feel supported. We need funding, water, food, and strong leadership. I expected more, and frankly, I’m disappointed.

Bought a '79 Scout II Rallye in 1978 that looked like the one at 00:21, other than the interior was tan vinyl and the wheels were white. Was a great vehicle, but rusted terribly.

Is this Penny tax going to a public vote, or is it another one of those things we are just supposed to "trust" our council to make the right decision? If we are voting, it is a HARD NO from me as long as they cannot complete HARD SCRAPPLE ROAD.

Why is it taking so long to fix the street, sidewalk, and pothole? It is dangerous to walk across the street(s). I noticed that the Bull Street District has been fixed. To the gentleman who spoke last night, he lives in Irmo and does not want a bus in his neighborhood. Do not judge people on how they get around Columbia. They're very decent people who use public transportation. Just because u live in Irmo does not make u better than someone who lives across the street from MLK Park. There are good people in bad places and bad people in good places. No one knows what his neighbors are doing behind closed doors

I remember when a particular 911 system refused mutual aid during the 2015 Flood. Just about every county in the state offered a truck or few but Bryd refused any and all help.. while his crews where nonstop and out forced to get trucks flooded...

We need an increase on minimum wage, research has shown $7.25 is not enough for any individual to survive with or without government assistance, the goal for the people is to not depend on the government as much. No one should have to work 2+ jobs to barely make ends meet, that’s less time at home & away from family. Some people can’t get insurance without having a job. This is country is a business, we work pay taxes and still can’t afford to live

I've lived in Columbia, SC since I was 3-years old - when the East Columbia side of town was not built up like it is today. I'm now aged 81, so you can guess how long I've lived here. The blight in our neighborhoods (lack of yard care) and on our highways is really getting to a very blight stage creating insects and other things. I'm glad to see that Coumbia is going to (or try) to crack down on this! The only way to get it stopped is to fine the guilty party! This goes for the City & the Country side of Columbia, S.C. It will be interesting to see if this is enforced!!! How many years this will take???? What is the access to those locked up being used for free labor? It would get them outside which might curb their behavior in the future.
