Very different in tone. Gurren Lagann is "FUCK YEAH ROBOTS TITS AND SHIT" Evangelion....is darker, slower, and makes you think about what the fuck just happened.

Gurren Lagann was made by the same people who made evangelion....it looks like an okay anime series....but Gurren Lagann is better
