These videos on ars subtilior scores are wonderful. Listening them next to Crumb's circular scores is also a neat musical evening.

The counterpoint part in quick notes can be used as a good preparatory exercise for playing and composing toccatas in the Italiab and South German Renaissance and Baroque aesthetics.

As an additional detail he was the tutor to the remarkable John Wilson. Wilson as a boy lost part of his left hand in an accident but learned to overcome his disability and became an excellent composer himself.
Listen. They are not the same piece. They only have the same title. Similarly, many composers have "Gloria" or "Credo" pieces. This is just a liturgical text, set at different times in different ways. Listen carefully to both recordings; they are very different.

Hi Jordan. Where can I find the sheet music for this tune? Struggling to find it on Google
@JordanAlexanderKey3 ай бұрын
Here. That's probably it, unless you can find the editions mentioned in the associated video podcast about PR MacLeod on my channel. I got them from a library and scanned them; thus, what you see here (this was the the 'US bicentenial collection of bagpipe music, volume 2'. This is largely the point of this channel: to make available bagpipe music that is otherwise inaccessible due to 'out of print' status, and to make people more familiar with great tunes (such as this one) that no one plays largely becuase they are not promoted or publicized on popular online bagpipe music site or in competition circles. Take a screenshot of the video and enjoy!

@@JordanAlexanderKey it’s very unfortunate that there aren’t many sources for these out of date prints. I may have a look in my local library for similar things. Thanks and I hope you continue making this great content

Sorry I made a mistake ; the tune I’m looking for is Mrs Harriet MacLeod of knockfarrel !
@JordanAlexanderKey3 ай бұрын
The tune you are looking for is not by William Lawire but his grandson, Willie Lawrie, the accordion player. The only collection of Willie Lawrie's music I have of is "The Lawrie Collection" published in 2004; it does not contain the tune you are looking for. I did also find "The Lochaber Collection" of tunes by Willie Lawrie (accordion player); however, this also does not contain the tune you are looking for.

If you have a recording of this tune, I can make you a transcription. I cannot find a recording online. Feel free to email the recording to [email protected] should you have such a recording.

Thank you for the music and score! I checked out the Codex Squarcialupi and I noticed you gave the wrong information: the notation for this caccia can not been found on fol 25v-26r, instead it's on fol 49v-50r. Anyway, thanks again!

What instrument was it played on? What temperament was used in the instrument, and what is the base sound for tuning?
@JordanAlexanderKey4 ай бұрын
It was performed on the pipe organ at the University of Florida. Likely equal temperament; it's a modern instrument (as you could likely tell given the registrations)

I consider Zipoli a special composer, particularly on his organ music: perhaps the best original composer after Frescobaldi and before Scarlatti.
