He is an Australian, but some people when they move to another country, adopt that accent, whether they like it or not. Not everyone keeps their accent when they move to another country.

Shortly after a big lead singer called Sam with Mick Hadley took over from Lobby who was primarily a great R&B guitarist. Saw a lot of The Coloured Balls in Turbot Street Brisbane. I can never forget their version of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lot of Love.

Great album. Guitarist and Flute player sensational. And there’s Renee. 100% . The Tremelo effect of the lead blazing solo on this song was something else. Chris Sonnenberg really plays some wonderful minor notes. Sun 1972 was an underrated album in which Renee’s blues chops and jazz would come out.

This bloke actually has a very powerful voice. It's a bit lost in this novelty song even though it is a very catchy tune.

Whenever some of the lesser-known overseas bands used to tour in Oz, when they came to Brisbane more than likely the support act would be The Coloured Balls. Always put on a good show!

This has always been one of my favourite Australian recordings. For this film clip: Cameras always pointed at the action, switched at exactly the right time. Well done! In the era, it was very rare for the crew to have been present at rehearsal. Usually they tried to react to instrumental changes.
