Good times, I had a E Scow some years ago sailing on Barnegat Bay . What a blast to sail, miss that boat.

As impressive as this is the old films from WW2 during the runs to Murmansk in those monsterous seas & ice is mind boggling. Brave lads that go to fight & sail the seas.

Spent some time in rough seas on various-sized Naval vessels (FFG, DDG, LSD, LPD, SSN, LHA's, and a CVN). Much preferred being on the carrier during the roughest seas. 50' to 100' seas are no joke.

My granddad was in the Navy during WWII and talked about riding out a cyclone. He said he saw an older destroyer rejoining the task force and all four stacks were smashed flat from waves breaking over her. After hearing that story, I’m glad I was on a submarine when I was in the Navy.

When I was on a troop ship in Mar '65, returning from Germany, there was several days that the waves were going completely over the ship and the speed was reduced to 10 knots. What is normally an 8 day crossing took 10 days.
