nah fr i think a lot of well meaning parents are the ones who care about the mistreatment of kids its those who are quitely neglecting parenting that are seriously the result of being parented similarly. and maybe becoming the teachers/bus drivers/ people that go on to continue the mistreatment of children. the world has a whole lot of work to do before we see justice for the way the youth that have been raised up into it. the global facade of good kids bad kids translates to a lot of the toxic ways we treat and demonize eachother as adults. where does it come from? self policing is a large part of it. normalize social consequences and not tolerating the mistreatment of children in any space. kindness is spite of the cruelty of the world is #1 (pass it forward, just maybe the world will be better for it)

It doesn’t make sense at all! Teachers already have more tasks to do than the work day allows. Being a social worker is not a teachers responsibility. For every added job there should be added compensation. Yes teachers care about children but this is a job! Pay for the work you want done! “Make it make sense!”

Because they assumed you have built a personal relationship with the student that they might be willing to open up to you versus someone with the word “officer” in their title. Sounds like they were wrong on your account.

3rd year here. Last year was the worst I've ever seen. We were down a 7th grade science teacher for half the year. When we finally got one, the science lead asked the rest of us to bend over backwards for him because our only goal was him coming back the next day. After his first week, it was "make sure he comes back next week." This guy was a former Navy seal, and he admitted that teaching was the hardest thing he'd ever done. Surprisingly, he's back this year... I transferred to a better school in the district

When I went through one over 25 years ago, we started in the classrooms our 2nd semester of classes. It was in the midwest and it was for a typical (at the time) small town classroom, even though we were placed in some of the near by city schools too. I WAS NOT PREPARED for my 1st year of being a classroom teacher in 1997, because it was not a total war zone - but it was minor battles on a daily basis. Also, I was hired THE DAY BEFORE the students reported, given a scope and sequence (outline of what is covered without lesson plans) and threw me to the wolves (as it were). First year me could have used a paraprofessional and/or a second teacher in the room with me, because my classroom management was not what it should have been.

lol 😂 No not at all. The training acted like all kids were automatically obedient. During our times in the classroom it was totally fake, we could do whatever off-topic lesson we wanted, the intern teacher basically used us to grade papers.

I went through a teacher preparation program 25 years ago. The one that I went through was considered one of the best at the time. It was structured to prepare for every aspect they could think of and it had on the job (in the REAL classroom) training with a coach mentoring us. I didn't do student teaching. I WAS the teacher. Some of us lasted the entire school year, and some of us didn't. I lasted 25 years, and now I'm out. Retiring in June.

i don’t see anything wrong with it, it’s just an exposed shoulder. most students wear way more exposing clothing nowadays

Thank you ❤ I wish I had all your inspirational words my first year instead of believing all the toxicity from Admin that "The students are a reflection of you as a Teacher". It caused me Very High Stress and Anxiety. Now I'm in my fifth year Teaching and still regulating my nerves away from those words.
