Always respect your way of training sir, I've learnt a lot from your channel. One of my friends of friend wanted me to help their puppies in basic obedience training. I am trying to help them, so I've been walking the puppies. Now, my question is, If I walk these puppies on everyday basis, will they consider me as their pack member and not listen to their actual owners?

It has taken me many years to realise that some people , I’m talking about all over the world, not Country specific, are just incredibly irresponsible when it comes to dog ownership. I say many years because I just cannot fathom that anyone thinks it’s acceptable to not walk their dog, keep it tied up on a rooftop, let their child pester, disregard obvious body language etc etc . Then the dog bites and they are genuinely surprised. So I think the ban is a good idea. There are many breeds that I like such as Rhodesian Ridgeback, Doberman and Rottweiler but I wont own as I dont have the capability so I stick to breeds I feel confident with. People buy dogs like they are shopping for shoes, actually they probably put more thought into shoe shopping.

I also think this is a good decision for the dogs. The amount of backyard breeding that happens, the miserable conditions the dogs live in, how quickly they are discarded once they are ill or old- all of these are good reasons to enforce a shift and to make breeding of these powerful breeds financially unviable.

I wish more people were like this and understood the proper way to be around strange dogs. My dog is quite small and she doesn't like people she doesn't know looming over her and sticking their hand in her face and touching the top of her head. Especially when they stare straight at her🤷♀. If you ignore her for literally 30/40 seconds and let her sniff your legs etc she will be fine .

Any dog that even mildly protests violation of its sense of self and personal space is deemed a MEAN DOG in western countries. What can I say?
@NettiieB9 ай бұрын
@@rrnsss thats so true! Especially in the UK, if a dog growls let alone snaps it is an aggressive dog. Even rehoming centres have this attitude, people don't understand that growling is a form of communication. I have noticed from the many times I am in India people allow dogs to be dogs, there is more acceptance. in the west we have a really high expectation that they will fit to our lives. This leads to issues sometimes I think.

Thank you for sharing this Mr. Ramachandran. I was walking my 2.5 year old doberman 2-2.5 km daily and thinking it was enough. Guess i need to work at increasing that :-). Your thoughts about walks drastically reducing behavioral issues are very true. I am definitely going to motivate myself to do better now at increasing my dog's walks to keep him fitter and happier.
@rrnsss10 ай бұрын
I suggest a minimum of 5 km to begin with. 2.5 plus 2.5 .
@NettiieB10 ай бұрын
how long does it take you to walk 2.5 km?
@PKM2210 ай бұрын
@rrnsss thanks. Definitely will do a progressive increase.
@PKM2210 ай бұрын
@NettiieB around 15 min to cover 2.5 km, and these are purely exercise walks--his walks in morning and evening for relieving himself are separate and those are at a leisurely pace and a shorter distance of about 100 mtrs each.

I have to walk along a very narrow country lane with traffic so ive taught my dog 'Side' . Which means she has to sit right at side of the lane and stay still while cars go past. Im so impressed with Ganga's calmness in everyday busy situations.
