@MikeHiLo I think they mean someone possibly stealing or vandalizing. Some areas just can’t put out stuff like this. But I’ve never had any issues with the places I’ve lived had very good luck. Just the occasional mother nature jacking up my shit 🤣😂

@@MikeHiLo I sincerely commend them for being brave enough, i.e. “having the guts,” to put all these expensive props outdoors exposed to the elements where they can potentially be damaged by the storms that occur this time of the year here in Texas or vandalism from mischievous kids or worse, people just intent on intentionally doing not nice things. This can get REALLY EXPENSIVE fast. Most of the seasonal Halloween props they sell are indoor rated. Even the big skeletons, which are outdoor rated may suffer wind damage if the wind speeds reaches a point. A lot of the storms that occur here this time of the year may surpass that safety threshold. Vandals have destroyed some of our Christmas props in the past. Now as a precaution we typically only set out our display and animatronics the day or so before Halloween and take them down immediately afterward. We have in the past put out some fairly large displays for our neighborhood. This methodology really kinda sucks because the neighborhood does not get to enjoy it much and it is a lot work crammed into a few days not to mention the weeks of prep work and staging required to make it happen. Got to change how we are doing things or resort to a simpler or different display or (GASP) just go the route of most people in the neighborhood and just turn on the front porch light and hand out candy. @knowyourjoe8826 here in California, the mother nature part isn't much of an issue for the most part .... the shitheads on the other hand is everywhere and unavoidable lol, i try to stake everything down or tie stuff down to make it harder for someone to just come up and walk away with anything.. I set up my decorations for the whole month. I tend to retire the stuff that gets old with new stuff. Home depot has become my favorite go to for Halloween.. I think it's the best bang for the buck compared to other animatronics like at spirit halloween... and I don't have the mind or possess the creativity to make homemade decorations.....

Very cool! I think I am going to pull the trigger on a full walkthrough, with four rooms and two hallways. Might not be fully detailed this year but I will build all of the walls. I have a fiber optic company going through the neighborhood digging up yards so I will probably not be able to decorate my entire yard. They have flags all over my lawn noting electrical, sewer and water. So that is going to interfere.

I haven't been online for almost half a year and have only just got around to watching your videos one by one. I stated a while back I was moving to one year big and one year small display so I can go enjoy Halloween season every other year instead of just kill myself every year and not get to go do fun stuff 😁. Last year I still do a pretty big ass display. This year will be small because i wont even be home Halloween night and doing a booth a a much bigger event Halloween Pumpkin Nights. I love to see what you both are doing every year. I have to deal with 30 mph winds, rain and intense sun. I spend more time trying to create ways to keep my haunt from blowing away and being destroyed instead of creating more props. I’m behind this year because it’s too hot to work outside. Kudos to what you both do for your neighborhood.

Awesome Theme ! ! ! We are having to really cut back on the out display this year do to the lack of help and decreased mobility. But will do what we can. The storage struggle is REAL. The number one question that we continually get asked is "Where do y'all keep all of this stuff...." LOL and ours in NOWHERE near as elaborate and well put together as y'all's. Looking forward to seeing how y'alls turn out. Thanks for sharing.

Storage is a huge problem for me too. I can’t store anything outside, I live in Florida and the critters get into sheds and eat everything. I have to store everything in the roof crawl space and I have to deal with props melting up there. It’s a battle being a haunter.

@@shelbylisa3782 Ya it is! I wish I could say I did not feel your pain! LOL. I am in DFW area TX and the summer heat is a whipping here. About the time the weather starts to be tolerable outside the storms hit with rain and high winds. It is too hot for me to work on stuff outside during the summer but at least the humidity is not as bad as Florida or Houston. I WANT a 60 x 40 two story climate controlled work shop with integrated storage area with an elevator. I NEED to start downsizing and rethink my display strategy as this is just not getting any easier. Like Steve said, "Body is not the same anymore." I am rethinking a few things and going to try something different this year and see how it goes. I have a few decent idea on how to work through some of this. Just got to work out the details of how to do what I am thinking without spending a small fortune. LOL. Isn't that always the case...
