bottle neck cartridges don't work well in revolvers they tend to expand the cases backwards and lock up the cylinder. Had they come out with this in a bolt action rifle that was accurate, (this was sold as a varmint round) and the lever and semi's just didn't hold minute of ground hog. Good round terrible marketing.

Thought it was bc the first run didnt have the burst feature but they (i think the army is 'they') wanted the burst feature so they added it but kept the smae 25rd mags. The theory is that the burst shoots the 3 bullets so fast that it would only feel like you pulled the trigger 1 time, leading to getting more bullets where you wanted them faster and more accurately

Well… dearest Sir . It started in the military where full mags DO HAVE ISSUES…. And we started loading 28 and jamming stoped, so there you go. Oh and BTW. You get issued what you get issued. The retired combat soldier has spoken!
@zebswinney99124 күн бұрын
With old mags maybe. The newer (in the last couple decades) have fixed those issues. You can load them fully now without issue.
@zebswinney99124 күн бұрын
You can fully load them now. Couple decades ago they fixed those issues and as long as you don't get issued the old mags your fine to load the full 30.

Non American here with limited firearms knowledge so excuse me if this is an extremely stupid question but Do you get 8 3 round bursts then on the next trigger pull just a single shot? You don’t need to change the selector? Once again I know it’s probably a stupid question😂

what about storing magazines loaded? does it actually compromise the spring tension long term? can i count on a loaded mag that ive had sitting for years to function when I need it?

@@millar320 maybe on like real stiff ones with no play. Standard pmags should be more than fine though given you have like a round and a half of play on them. Personally though Id just rotate your stuff every few weeks.

Everything I've seen says you can leave loaded for long time Springs are rated on "cycles" compacting and expanding Leaving them full isn't a " cycle"
@xThunderxWolfx4 күн бұрын
If a spring isn't compressing and retracting it isn't wearing. So if it stays in the same place it wont wear.
@morgantrevino48814 күн бұрын
Magpul themselves said that keeping the spring under tension produces less wear that constantly using the spring, ie if you keep the loaded long term it won’t be nearly as bad as using the same mag every day for 6 months and the spring wears out.

The thing I hear most with underloading magazines is leaving them in loaded in storage. Something about the springs losing tension and not be able to load correctly

29 in mag 1 in chamber is perfect most of the time but for competition i say 30+1 is important

Funny I always barney for pistol but never rifle. Granted I tend to reload alot when I move, so idk how helpful that extra round would be in most matches. Gonna try and remember to do it for tomorrows match though cause itd be perfect for the long range stages.

not to contradict you (since i also always load fully), BUT e remember watching a documentary about the training of the Danish Jaeger corps and i distinctively remember a guy getting chewed on because he loaded his AR mags with 30 instead of 29 rounds. the drill sergeant was screaming at him that loading fully can make the gun jam and that it would kill him.
