My rear shock blew it's guts out at 9000klms. Take it easy on the erosion mounds. I'm getting mine re sprung and re valved, which will stop it blowing through the stroke and blowing up again hopefully.

Best review yet. I've got a 2016 Africa twin I'm currently selling to buy either ktm790 or transalp 750 more leaning towards the honda mostly for reliability have riden both and the honda just seems like a light little Africa twin and way more nimble and easier to ride.

Sorry to hear about your head on. I've been there myself. You sound like you got out of it okay. I broke 14 different bones in mine. As for the Transalp dirt capabilities.... I jump erosion mounds, do knarly double track, creek crossings, single track and even bush bashing when required. It keeps up with all the so called 'true ' adventure bikes..... It's tough too.... I've pegged it into the bushes multiple times and nothing has broken yet. Skid plate and hand guards are the only protective add ons

EXCELLENT, candid perspective from an obviously successful ADAPTIVE rider, THANKS. ... a 'breath of fresh air' in a world of marketing hype. Would manufacturers sell more bikes if there were ONE 'unicorn' bike ... or if each bike fell short of 'unicorn' dreams/desires ? I notice that in any industry manufacturers only offer what customers want when FORCED to do so by competition; witness what the CFMoto 450MT has FORCED mainstream manufacturers to provide ... by providing competition for something desired world-wide. For instance, our world was not treated to the precision of fuel-injection until GM, Ford et al were FORCED to provide fuel-injection by smaller European manufacturers, like Porsche etc.

@discoveror9576 thanks for watching and i agree about the manufacturer's i also think the 450 twin would be a great platform i would like 50 HP one 140 Kg 250mm travel might be a Unicorn travel bike

@@TheFastphill From a manufacturing engineering viewpoint, it seems that to get weight down to ~140 kg would require an aluminum, rather than steel, frame. As I look across the market, it seems like all the really lightweight (e.g. dirt) bikes have aluminum frames ... which seems to decrease their weight, compared to steel frame bikes, by maybe 50 - 60 pounds (say 23 - 27 kg). Aluminum frames, no doubt, cost more, but I suspect there's at least some market demand to pay more for the lighter weight of aluminum frames ... since weight ALWAYS matters.

Wind noise too much ,view from camera too high over, can seldom see dash windscreen . But the wind noise is terrible . Transalp myself for the longer adv stuff with the good twin track stuff included,I realise it needs protection and suspension if your going to push, but I hear great things about the bike’s balance and LSGravity. Just wondering your thoughts after riding it for a while now, cheers Paul.
