Just had this done a week ago. They encountered more scar tissue than expected, and the dura was torn and repaired. This lead to a spinal headache. Also pretty much couldn’t pee, a common problem. But I came home after 5 days in hospital. I am excited to see the results!

This is the best and most informative video of the subject that I have found. One thing that I have not found answer for is that how easily does the inner material of the disc push outside once the herniation is removed. One doctor described the consistancy of the inner disc material close to the shrimp flesh, so not that liquid.

I had this done on 10/31/24, The first night I stayed in the hospital. The pain level was about a 4 (the meds really had me sleep alot) that night I got up out the bed and walked to the door of my hospital room a few times (good to go, with a walker Of course as I felt like I had no balance/stability). Next morning I was up walking around hospital room and hallway a few times. I was fine with no “pain” but I had discomfort” once I got home I had very good support system and keep me on a schedule for pain meds and kept wounds clean and bandages changed. I took vitamin d and k also with my morning meal. The most pain/discomfort I felt was getting in and out of bed. Luckily I have a bed that raises up and down your head and legs so this helps alot. Sleep on your back and just rest and heal. Don’t twist don’t bend don’t do anything but stay in bed that first week but make sure you walk. My pain is still there a lil but I already feel so much better and expect to get better with time.

Love how Doctors pretend to ignore pain. Now since the The GOVT via DEA has passed laws against law abiding citizens that actually need pain meds for injuries or, surgeries. Somehow the lawless still get to do their thing, while innocent hard working and law abiding folks. Suffer like hell, while political class has the very best medical care our money can buy them. I've worked for 40 years, my body is worn & broken. Along with two failed back/neck surgeries. Sarcasm here, Tylenol takes all the pain away but, you will cry, fuss. & cuss. Just a side effect from the lack of pain meds coursing through neck, arms, back, legs. Nothing to worry about much. I hear a V is coming out soon to cure me.

Brilliantly explained, I am one month into post op, had C3-6. I am recovering well. Discomfort of neck tightness. Sharp pains from within my cut side. My, question would be how long to wear a Cervical collar, do I sleep with it and fir how long ( weeks/months)? I like to get an outside opinion. I had my surgery done in India, i am from Ximbabwe. Thank you.

Thank you. I had 3 months of severe leg pain and no understanding of my laminectomy (L5S1 and L4L5) on Oct 10 until watching this video. I also had a hematoma after surgery and went back into the hospital Oct 11 and had a second surgery Oct 15. I still have no understanding of that. It was much more painful. Oct 28 I walked a Mile!

Look… Just get it fused… I literally went years complaining of my back, and was told I had bursitis… After my pregnancy, I went in again telling the doc I can pop my back into place, but prior to doing so my legs would be numb…. No physical therapy is going to fix a slipping spine… no injection either… Those come after the fusion cause I’m still dealing with neuropathy, spinal stenosis, etc. I was a grade 5 before they finally realized there was an issue…. Complained at 15 years old, diagnosed 8 years later… 😢

I’ve been told that I need this surgery due to severe spinal slippage, sciatica, spinal instability, and pain. I’m worried for the future, as I’ve also been told I will likely need another fusion and another and another until I am completely fused due to the strain placed on my still-mobile vertebrae. I’m only 22, and I can’t imagine a life of going back every 10 years for another surgery. Is there anybody here that has had a better experience with spinal fusion than what I’m being told?

Thank you so much ! Been dealing with this issue for almost 10 years with lumbar injections. Last one I had lasted 16 days. I knew something was wrong and the pain has been awful. Orthopedic surgeon had MRI and X-rays done. When I saw his face, I knew it was going to be surgery. At times, it is time for surgery to fix the problem.
