How can you enjoy playing guitar without enjoying the massive tone that each bring 🤔 😊
@bmg6965 күн бұрын
I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s and a Fender American Ultra Luxe Strat. I only play clean, no pedals, through a Twin Reverb. The Strat is more articulate, comfortable, and I like the augmented C to D neck and maple fretboard. It plays very smoothly. But, to me, the LP sounds so much more fuller and deeper, and also plays very smoothly. I love the tone. It is uncomfortably heavy though. If I had to give one up, that would be a really difficult decision. I hope I'll never have to make that decision. 😊

Most of those sounded pretty nice and are in the ball park for sure, your very correct in that it's a bunch of factors to achieve the grail tones, I'm in a zone with my main and only's that has rendered my tone in harder particularly to be under lock and key and I know it because I'm constantly hounded to spit the sorcery of wizard sauces etc...I'd love to but I'd be a threat to the big kids and put several out of work if I dared it in public/private....great tone never varies brother! 🔥

For a beginner, I’d suggest a strat style guitar too. And even some of the ~$200 guitars are decent enough for a beginner to learn on. When I began to play electric (moving from acoustic) I had a Sears special, then got an Epiphone Dot and a Gibson LP. They’re all gone now and replaced with newer budget brands. After a 30 year abstinence from playing and raising a family it’s about all I can afford. Ha! It’s amazing what CNC machines can do now.

Awesome recordings! I’m with you as far as tactile goes, I’m from the old Teac R2R days, so I’m just not that into DAWs. Yes I know how well they can clean things up but to me it just makes the process seem like a chore. Ha! But hey it’s great that we have so many choices now because studio time has always been expensive. Thanks for showing your rig.

Hi fretwork...good to see you. I think asking the question "would I buy it again?" really drives the point home...not just showing or demo-ing something. Liked your take on this, especially item number 3. It brought back some memories of when I first picked up an instrument (clarinet) before playing guitar. I was in elementary school in Florida, and the band director had us learn multiple songs. He had us recorded as a band and sold albums to all the parents, of course. We did concerts at the school and marched in parades and everyone just raved about how great we were. Then my BIL, 20 years my senior, and a band director and musician from Ohio came to visit and wanted to hear me play. Of course I played one of the songs I’d been “taught”. And then he took some sheet music and placed it before me and said “here, play this”. I looked at it like it was Greek. I, and my bandmates, had learned everything by ear, nothing by note. All by a band “director” conning everyone into thinking he, and his pupils, were brilliant. Fortunately my BIL took me under his wing, taught me how to read music and help me develop into a decent musician. In fact by the 8th grade I was 1st chair clarinet when he came to visit my junior high school band. I was fortunate to have had my BIL intercede and help me, and I’m sure others in the elementary band just gave it up. All because one man wanted people to think he knew the secret to turning novice musicians into great performers. Still blows my mind.
@RockHardRiffsАй бұрын
How crazy. It's great to learn by ear, but only by ear in a school band...it's like you were a glorified garage band...lol. I wonder how long he got away with that?
