For weeks I've been practicing a 15-minute pranayama routine. I'm such a modern Westerner, that I can't even sit on a thin pad Criss-Cross with my legs without discomfort. I'm considered fit and healthy, yet my knees couldn't touch the floor at all...if they did, it would tear something inside me painfully. After a couple of weeks, I'm able to sit for 15 minutes, while admittedly uncomfortable, not nearly as much so already. My knees still cannot touch the floor, but my legs are more relaxed and my behind hurts less after sitting for more than 10 minutes. As small as this improvement is, it gives me great hope for being able to meditate comfortably soon! I'm 47, and have always considered myself strong, but tightly wound. Not very flexible. Far far beyond anything I'm capable of doing- this man makes look easy. I'm intrigued. Hope I pursue this with diligence...

Dr. Albert Ellis was a better, and more concise, communicator than his peer Dr. Aaron Beck, even the latter is credited with originating CBT -- mainly because Dr. Beck was more interested in research and was more mainstream.

This is fascinating and reminds me of a therapist named Joan Bodger who was a student of Fritz Perls. She was a gifted storyteller and used Perls techniques woven into her use of storytelling as therapy. I miss her.

This was so inspiring to so someone who doesn’t have a IG physique talk as if he were sitting while doing poses that I wonder if I’ll even achieve in this lifetime. And his conviction in what he has experienced is just as powerful as when he was alive. It conveys fully ! Muchhhhhhh respect

Albert Ellis ABCDE model is wrong ,I read this criticism of his from one of his student. Dr Jim Byrne's criticism of Albert Ellis - When important things go wrong in a person’s life, that person predictably and understandably becomes emotionally upset. This was a common-sense perspective until rational and cognitive therapy resuscitated an ancient Roman slave’s perspective which asserts (wrongly) that people are not upset by what happens to them! And that is precisely the problem. Epictetus was a slave in ancient Rome. Not only was he a slave, but his mother, before him, was also a slave; and he was born into slavery. Imagine how low his expectations of life would be - the slavish son of a slavish woman! And then he was released by his slave-owner, to preach Extreme Stoicism to the masses.
