Thousands of years before us and they were using clam shells and deer bones to make mounds out of tons of dirt and rock? Yea. That makes sense. We know barely anything about these people and its time to admit it.

It is reassuring and inspiring knowing that Jack and the other researchers at the University used hallucinogenics to reach their conclusions on the history of these snake mounds, because without ingesting mushrooms, acid, mescaline and peyote they never would have deduced that despite only having simple tools, they were highly trained engineers. I feel so much better now, knowing that future generations of our children are in the hands of these very capable, though extremely delusional, professors.... It is also apparent as to why the worthless degrees they are peddling are so prohibitively expensive: drug addictions are not cheap, and what,, with all the drugs these professors are obviously on, it can really add up very quickly! Well, back to my university studies....wait, LOOK!, a squirrel.... I'll just study later, as the clouds, and the wind through the trees, and all those strange noises in my head, they're just too groovy to ignore, right now... Yes, I do have a BS! How'd you know?

You guys are a trip. You have so much disdain for the indigenous people that you'll sooner believe that a person must be on drugs than admit that they are the ones responsible for these incredible feats of human ingenuity. Sorry pal, but just because white people didn't do it doesn't mean it must have been aliens or giants or Israelites or whatever dumb nonsense you've conjured up in your head.

The Hopewell people are descendants of the Native American Indians, but fun fact if you read the Book of Mormon you would find out that the Hopewell people are really the Nephites and Lamanites with amazing stories of how they got here and what happened to these people. The Adena culture are also mentioned in the Book of Mormon, but their real names are the Jaredites. I encourage you to learn more by reading the Book of Mormon

2000 years? More like 5-7000 years old pre-dating Hopewells. Many Natives over that time used this area probably as a meeting/trade site with short term dwellings.

went to the festival this year (2015)-got the "works"-the sauerkraut, instant mashed potatoes (ugh!) & pork that is showed in this video. BAD! cold, very bland! not worth $5. Had a piece of german chocolate cake supposedly made with sauerkraut-$3-a joke. cake was good but only tasted like german chocolate cake. 1st time going, which was ok but the so-called sauerkraut food was a joke.

Clam hoes and deer shoulder blade picks were likely used for gardening, but I doubt they were the principle tools used to build the mounds. Let's give these people some more credit than that.

He is Shawnee? Since when?? Do you think you are teaching people something when using "experts" who know nothing of our people? There are no Shawnee tribes in Ohio, and this guy is not a member of any Shawnee tribe.

Robert Milton If he is not enrolled with a recognized tribe, that means he cannot prove his claims, therefore he would NOT be Shawnee, and the female would NOT be Cherokee... there is no such thing as "being Shawnee by tradition" As for Shawnee's having "stayed behind" during the removal, you would be wrong, none were allowed to "stay" I have newspaper articles of two women over 100 years old being forced during the removal... I have copies of news paper ads from the government stating there is a "bounty for all Indian scalps with the right ear attached, rid Ohio of the redskin" these ads from from the late 1700's well into the 1800's... there is a price for each man, woman. child and infant. The price for a man was equal to a years worth or wages.

This is awesome, pi:lahuk(thank you) however, the Cherokee/Anigaduwagi don't descend from the Adena/Hopewell/Fort Ancient people. My people, the Siouan speaking peoples do. The Cherokee come from Cahokia. And the Shawnee moved into Ohio after my ancestors built these mounds, and migrated east.
